Default Carbon Fiber over balsa question

I am interested in making a balsa false rib and then stiffening it with CF cloth. How would you do that? with epoxy, CA or how?
thanks

I’m not sure I completely understand your question, but here goes:

On a flat surface (I have a granite slab) I would put the rib on a piece wax of wax paper.

I would wet out the cloth with epoxy on a separate piece of wax paper, squeegee the excess but keep it on the wet side. Then place the cloth on the rib and stipple the resin into the piece (dab with the end of a brush.)

If looks are more important than weight, then place a piece of waxed mylar on top of the cloth, then a board and finally some weight to keep it all flat.

If weight is more important, then soak up all the excess resin with Scott’s brand toilet paper before the mylar. Apply a single layer of TP and dab. You will see it soak up the resin. Peel off the TP and repeat until the cloth is ‘dry’. Surprisingly, this doesn’t disturb the cloth.

To aid in curing, I place a light bulb underneath the granite to warm things up. You’ll be ready to trim in about an hour.

you understand correctly, that is what I needed to know. Is mylar the only thing that works in between the weight and glue?

Mylar works best because it won't wrinkle. You could also use anything from saran wrap to heavy gauge poly.
