Sig 1/4 scale J3 wing joiner repair/replace
Hi I posted this also in the "crash and repair" forum.
I caught a crosswind that tipped my Sig 1/4 scale J3 wing into the ground on landing and broke the 1/4 inch by 7/8 inch plywood joiner flush with the short wing "half". Rather than rebuild with the same plywood joiner I am thinking of using two 1/4 diameter solid fibreglass rods. I will fill in between them vertically with aircraft plywood. Should I make them the same length as the plywood, or longer or shorter? Will the fibreglass be stronger than the plywood? If not, should I use carbon fiber rod or tube? Suggestions and comments welcome and very much appreciated. Thank you very much.
