Composite muffler
Hello, can composite material be used to form a muffler for a 60 to 100cc gas engine.
I was thinking of using the lost foam technique to produce the shape of the muffler. Then rap it in layers of regular glass cloth or carbon fiber. If this is a practical solution which resin and cloth is recommended? Thanks... Norman |
RE: Composite muffler
Glass cloth or carbon cloth will do but the resin will need to he a high temp epoxy and it will need to be post-cured at a tempreture higher than it will reach in use
if you can get hold of some heatshrink tape then you can wind this around the pipe after applying the resin this will squeeze out any excess resin and also give you a nice shinny finish goony |
