Glassing a p-51

I will be building the p-51 from great planes (1st warbird) and I want to glass it. The web page states that this plane has an "open bay wing". Will glassing be a problem? Thanks for any tips.

You can not glass over open space. The fiberglass needs a solid surface for support.

If you are willing to be a 'little unorthodox' and use silkspan instead of 'traditional covering' (Monokote, etc ) you can do it using the polyurethane method for glassing. Bradley Walker's article on finishing U/C planes deals with silkspan and using polyurethane.

The other option would be to sheet the open bays and then glass the plane.

Hope this helps.
