Composite Analysis Program

Hi,

For my UAV project I'm writing an [link=http://www.scilab.org]Scilab[/link] (read: Free Matlab) program to calculate composite stresses in slender (read: RC) wings and fuselages and possibly suggest layers, layer orientation and thicknesses. Is there any interest for something like this for fellow composite airframe developers? because if there is I will make it user friendly document it and post it here.

That program spounds fantastic to me. An extremely useful tool for those of us who right now are guessing what the best layup is. I'd be extrmemly interested.

Sounds like a fun application of materials of solids!

Very useful. Thanks for thinking of us.

RE: Composite Analysis Program

It's a bit more complicated than I thought. I don't think I'll model shear stress for now because even commercial finite element analysis programs like Strand7 still don't model the shear behavior of composite panels properly. But I can model longitudinal stress and I think in most wings this stress is the defining factor for the design.
