My Control line Engines

I've been flying my UControl aircraft with the Fox Stunt 35. I got some original needle valve assembly fromMecoa in California. I have over the years acquired a few McCoy red head 35. Several have asked if the mount holes are the same dementions, and the answer to that question is no. They are not interchangeable. I've seen other U Control flyers mod there plane with wood or an aluminum plate when changing to another motor. Even K@B motors I understand have a different mount dementions. That's what I have Hurd never owned a K@B but I have installed a venturi and needle valve. Or should I say the Gal in Lake Havisue installed it for me. It works really well compared to the Fox Needle valve. Which I correct using Fuel lube on the threads only. Seems to help the thread looseness that is associated with the Fox Needle valve. Really enjoy reading about or U Control. And have learned several things I've forgot over the long years.AJ.

Gosh gosh U Control generosity I had a tear! moment a RC guy seen me fly my Veco Chief at the RC field a Circle that is not much of a Circle and when I landed my Chief had better landings, the area is a dump and really not suited for UC along with a car track put the Circle over in the corner of the Fourty Acre plot. Anyway he gave me Four Fox U Control engines and.a U Control kit he had for years. He said I will never build them or use those engines. I offered to pay for them but he refused my offer.AJ

Oh I’ve had bad times to often wondered why. Years ago a neighbor boy watched me fly and was interested in my plane. I spoke with his Mom and she told me they could not afford what he wanted. Any way I bought him a kit Sig I had a .15 engine and all the parts he needed to fly. We built the plane and he learned to apply silk and dope finish. His grandfather got involved and finished the plane. I never knew if he ever flew it. But the Grandfather never spoke to me again. And was kinda rude. The boy got married this weekend at the Airport. I did not attend and was told only family. But many cars and many people were their. What just happened to me kinda mended that event. AJ.

Got a chance to look over my respected generosity and these engines are really nice very early model Fox engines mid 60s to early 70s versions two Stunt 35s one 25 and a 19. The kit is really ruff box wise, only a part of the end label is readable it’s a Sterling box. I looked inside found mice droppings, and it’s a die smash. That’s all cut out. Kinda looks like he started it, and possibly lost interest or something happened. And he put it up mice were in the box but no damage I could see to any of the parts and the wood. It’s a build up fuselage. But no drawings or plans if it’s a Sterling kit. No hardware or items that came with most early Sterling models. I’ve built several over the years. At least three Ringmasters. And most all were U Control. One of the big Shearman biplane is was RC and flew like a rock when you cut power. That’s how I lost it and retired it, sold it to a bar in Fort Worth. and the Flying fool. Got a original Sterling kit and a larger version that’s destin to be next winters project. AJ

Well I looked at the plane that was given to me, and I, well it may not be a Sterling a few of the parts maybe a Top Flight U Control. Haven’t seen Ray, the guy that gave me the kit. It’s an old kit I think the fuselage is built up and it’s definitely not a profile. Looks like it was scavenged for parts maybe to repair another similar plane, it’s definitely a U Control. Thinking maybe a Viking. Don’t think Veco made a Viking or Sterling May have, but Top Flight comes to mind. I looked at the Brodak Viking, the spar and wing ribs resemble that kit. It would be a good build, if I could replace the several missing parts. For now it goes into stash, to many projects on line right now. Hope every body has a nice Turkey day.AJ
