Offhand, I would venture that whoever this underage " edge_fanatic " thinks he is, among the qualities he lacks is maturity (and/or any knowledge worth respecting about Control Line).
Ignore the silly child. Thousands of model plans are ORPHANS. Air Trails, Hobby Helpers, American Modeller, and several other magazines from the 50's and 60's, quite obviously decades before little "edgy" ever saw a piece of balsa (or he'd have had enough sense to say something different), folded without any provision to pass their model plans copyrights to successor publications/owners. The ONLY way any plans formerly copyrighted by those sources will ever be available is through suppliers "other than the copyright owner".
Geez! Who turned someone so totally ignorant loose with moderator responsibility over his far better informed elders? As I've said before, it's obvious that the RCU administartors have almost no interest in a fair treament of any other modelling arena other than RC. Whatever George said, Edgy could only have been in error. Period. Various orphaned plans are available for little more than copying costs from half a dozen sources, all of which may be looked up via Phil Brown's clearing house of CL URL's. http://home.att.net/~philbrown36641s5/clhomepage.html

As for the insults, you should consider making factual arguments rather than lowering yourself into personal attacks.

Kiwi and gcb:
I saw RogerK's original post, and while I was a little worried about it I decided to let it slide and see what happened.
As I didn't see gcb's post before Sean killed it I can't comment on that one, but whatever it was Sean's editing comment did not deserve the sophomoric response Kiwi gave it.
While there is no doubt that many of the older plans from defunct magazines have succeeded into public domain, many also were bought with the other assets of the older magazines, and in some cases the magazines changed their names and are still being published. And this could well leave the copyright still in force.
Without a search on the plans individually there is no way to determine if they are still under copyright. And, as has been discussed many times, if the copyright is still valid, copies of the plan can not be legally distributed without the permission of the copyright holder. And RCU can not allow itself to be the site of illegal distribution of copyrighted material.
Both of you should learn your subject, the legal side, not what is commonly done between individuals, before you shoot your mouths off about someone who has done his homework.
Now if RogerK wants to dispose of original plans, that is certainly his right, and he can give them free or charge for them. So long as they are originals.
It would not surprise me to find Edge_Fanatic is better educated than the two of you combined, and judging from the response he may well also be smarter than the two of you combined.
Bill.
PS: RogerK. a list would be a very good thing. wr.

I have bought kit plans from various sources. Unfortunately plans from Berkeley and Veco* are no longer available from the manufacturer. Some are from Hal DeBolt's CL days. I've never heard of Hal sueing anyone. I think he still flys RC somewhere in the West.
Not everyone adhere's to the modern version of the "Golden Rule"...Sue unto others before they sue unto you.
That said, I already have enough plans to keep me happy for many years. You should attend an Old Time Stunt event where many try to bring out the most obscure plane they can find from prior to December 1952.
My thoughts, although perhaps out of line, was that distributing copies would be better than having an obscure original sitting in one person's shop way down in their todo list. Perhaps not.
George
Edit: *Some versions of Veco plans are available directly from their designer/reviser, Joe Wagner.

Roger,
Place your inquiry, and, especially, your list at either or both of these two sites:
[link=http://www.clstunt.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi]Stuka Stunt Works[/link]
or
[link=http://www.flightlines.com/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=C/L,F/F+Buy,Sell,Trade,and+Wanted&number=44]Flightlines[/link]
The folks there are all CL Fliers and they'd appreciate hearing from you. You'll have to register to post at either location, but you had to do so to post here as well.
Happy posting!
