Default Venturi Bore?

I've got a GP-15 that's been laying around forever that I'm going to convert to C/L.

I plan to use this needle valve assembly. [link]http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290404421770&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT[/link]

No, I plan to make the venturi, that one won't fit the GP. I think it has an ID of 6mm which sounded small to me but that's why I asked.

I have a chart that shows the effective recommended venturi area for various size CL engines. For a .15 engine it's 8-10 sq mm. I'm fairly sure that needle valve in the link is a 3mm diameter so you'd need a venturi bore between 5.5 and 5.85mm.

Excellent, that's what I was looking for. I think I'll start with a delrin venturi, make one of each size, then upgrade it to aluminum after I decide which I prefer.

Thanks,
Walt

I manufacture venturis for Super Tigre engines. I have had experts comment about my bore being incorrect. Turns out my bore diameter was correct and the EXPERTS didn't know what they were talking about.
OK so here's the story. Each airplane and flyer has a different opinion of what is right for them. Weight of the airplane has a lot to do with it. If you build extremely light you can use a smaller bore. Start off with just about the smallest bore you can fit your NVA into and fly the plane. Drill it out a couple of thousandths and fly the plane. You should be able to tell when you hit the sweet spot for you.
