SIG Spitfire's

Did SIG have a bigger C/L Spit than the 18" job with the molded plastic fuselage?

Yes,
It was a re-engineered Berkeley 3/4" to 1' kit with great decals. I suppose it's about 28 inches or so.
Do you have a lead on a plastic fuselage 18 incher?

Chris. I have one of the 18inch kits. It's a Kwik Bilt, # KBCL1. I sure would like to get a bigger one. Is the Berkeley re-do a profile or built up?

35 years ago I had one that was pretty close to scale with a fuselage you planked with little strips of balsa that had curves milled into them kinda like T&G planking. I think that was a Sig kit of some sort.

I have the Berkely/Sig kit still in the box. 27-1/2" inch span for .09 to .35. It would probably be real nice with a .15. Ihave an Enya .10 that I'm going to use for it if I ever get around to it.
It's a pretty plane with the bead and cove strip planking. Should be a real looker when done.

That's the one I had. I remember the box.

Is the lager kit's plan a comprehensive Berkely style or the abbreviated SIG offering?

Were these the only two, or was the a slightly lager version more like the Sterling kit?

In 1988 I happened across the Sig P-40 and Spitfire plastic full fuselage kits in an old hobby shop. I had enough dough to buy the Skylark stunter and left the little kits behind. I have NEVER seen other examples of either again!

Skaliwag,

Sig bought some of the kits that Fox had bought out from Berkeley. They re-engineered them and I understand they are pretty nice. As far as the plans, I have a friend that has all of the series, I'll check it out when I get back to St. Louis in two weeks.

There are several different designs in the series, T-6, Focke Wulf, Bearcat, Spitfire, and maybe a couple more. They are all 3/4" to 1'. They are Scale models, designed to be used in C/L Scale. There is no other Sig Spitfire that I have ever seen.

Sterling made a 52 inch Spitfire stunter that was a semi-scale stunt model.

Top Flite made a 42 inch Hurricane semi-scale stunter.

You can handle the flying models and I'll work the plastic scale side of the shop.
