snoopy control line

I didn't realize there was a C/L thread. I hope someone can help,Years ago L built a Snoopy dog house C/L from plans I got from a Model mag. It had a fusalage shaped like a dog bone and I think was powered by an 049 Cox This was probably in 1975, Anyone remember such? Smoke trail Charlie

xby-1 08-19-2015 04:24 PM

I remember Bob Crusan talking about it, his design and article. However I never saw the magazine. Unfortunately Bob passed 18 months ago and I don't know where any plans are, but they are out there somewhere.

smoketrailcharlie 08-19-2015 05:15 PM

thanks xby1 it shouldn't be too hard to cobble something up, I do recall it had a tapered wing which could be a challenge for me.smoke trail charlie

xby-1 08-19-2015 06:39 PM

If you have the dimensions for the wing I can cobble a design easily and post it.

smoketrailcharlie 08-20-2015 08:00 AM

Thanks xby1 So many other projects at this time,Can I take a rain check on your offer? smoke trail Charlie

xby-1 08-22-2015 03:50 PM

sure, just let know if you ever decide to build it. Do you have the article? I would like to see it if you could send a copy.

smoketrailcharlie 08-22-2015 05:13 PM

No xby1 I don"t have the article,i just remember 1975 I was in Germany with the Army and I built it using a 949 engine out of a wrecked P51 Mustang. It was a dog bone for a fusalage and tail with a dog house for a cabin .it was a super flyer ,untill I flew it into a pole. .Someone at the time told me it had a clsrk y wing I have no idea what he meant.nice chatting with you Smoke Trail Charlie

NEW222 08-24-2015 03:46 PM

Now, this sounds all too cool. I will be watching this thread for future plans. I think the kids next door where I fly would get a kick out of something like this.

smoketrailcharlie 08-24-2015 06:34 PM

New 222 Don't hold your breath,I just have so many irons in the fire I don't know when or if I will get to it.It was really a kick in the pants to fly.I actually built two of them one red and white ,one Camo. The motor was an 0,49 I'm sure some kids could put it together. And I know the plans are out there somewhere .Later, Smoke trail Charlie

SNOOPY'S DOG HOUSE BY R.L. CRUSAN, is available from the AMA plans service for $13. Bob specialized in unusual design, all of which flew amazing well. I think I will build one for the final Brodak Flyin, Bob would have liked that.

smoketrailcharlie 08-26-2015 09:57 AM

Bless your heart xby-1 I Just may have to set some of my other projects aside ,Now I will have to find an 0.49. I still have two o20 bee HMMM. Later Smoke trail Charlie

xby-1 08-26-2015 10:03 AM

I just ordered the plan, when I get it I am going to see if I can make it electric. I hate messing with .049's

smoketrailcharlie 08-26-2015 11:46 AM

xby1 Sounds good, I fly a few electric Quad copters and several other electric choppers .Are you old enough to remember a single line controlled plane ,I think it was by Mattel, I bought it for my Son and flew it myself more than he did. Probably around 1977 or so, Keep me posted,What size and type motor would you put on it, Sound doable .latter Smoke trail Charlie

xby-1 08-26-2015 12:29 PM

Yes, I am old enough, first flew CL in 1950. Will pass the 3/4 century mark soon.

NEW222 08-26-2015 06:08 PM

Got a set of plans from a local gentleman. It does look like it will be fun, as well as an interesting build. I had not known what it had looked like before receiving the plans. I had only guessed and assumed that it was a much smaller version of the newer RC one. Wow, was I wrong.

smoketrailcharlie 08-26-2015 06:45 PM

I don't know if you are following the thread but xby1 says plans are available. The one I built was rather small if I remember it had a wingspan of 16 to twenty inches Keep me posted please.Smoke trail Charlie

xby-1 09-05-2015 08:15 AM

Received the Snoopy plan today. Span is 19", the fuselage and tail surfaces are dog bones, the the main part of the fuse a dog house with Snoopy on top. Should fly very well. It was published in MAN 04/1971.

I am going to build one also. I may scale it down and use one of my Cox .020 PeeWee engines. It would go along with my set of Barnstormers, Fox .35, Cox .049, Cox .020 PeeWee and Cox .010 TD. The Cox .010 Barnstormer weighs 3 ounces. The 88 inch WS Taube in my Avatar is control line.

smoketrailcharlie 09-06-2015 08:45 AM

Hope both of you keep me posted, I have been busy flying Choppers and quads and a friend gave me a couple of wrecked rock crawler rc cars which I rebuilt and got running .At the present I am building an Amphib. I'm79 and still sucking air.keep in touch Smoke trail Charlie.
