aero engineering?
 

Does anyone know if aero engineering is still in business. If not when did they stop making kits. I acquried a couple of NIB kits and was just looking for a little history on the kits. They are controline kits made from the orginal veco molds. The company was located in Birmingham, Al. Cannot find any info on the internet.

I'd like to know more details of this story, too. But I think Dumas (the boat kit maker?) in Tucson had the line after Gil Henry and Veco, then it went to to Aero. My impression is that Aero didn't last all that long, and I have heard that the tooling was getting pretty bad by then. Now, John Brodak kits the Thunderbird, Smoothie and others. Brodak even has an ARF Smoothie that is very nice. Larry Richards does several, including the Squaw, Warrior, Brave, Little T-Bird, and others. I even found a laser kit of the Dakota FF biplane at BJMR Hobbies.

Two thoughts: post the same question at the Stuka Stunt Works forum-you'll get a ton of info, I think-and write Larry at [email protected] to see what he knows. Super guy and exceptional kits.

Bob Palmer, who designed many of the Veco kits, only recently passed away. He had authenticated the work that Brodak has been doing.

Thanks for the info. My uncles were big into control line model when I was a young kid. Currently I am flying helis & a texas hurricane, but was just the other day thinking I should get a control line kit again. As luck would have it a fellow at work had a couple of kits he got from a older man who was going into assisted living. The fellow with the kits was into electric and wonder if I wanted the kits. I said sure I had just been pondering get a control line model. The only control line I had was the testors p-51 mustang. I purchase of of those recently for my infant sons room. Thought I might save one to build with him when he is older. They are a warrior & mooney cadet kit from aero engineering and ole tiger from a dumas plane

Aero Engineering was owned by the father of Bubba Spivey, the owner of Lanier. The kits wern't too much to talk about and yes your probably right that the tooling was pretty sad

That's neat! My first stuntable CL plane after a trainer was a Veco Brave-the Warrior minus flaps-with an Ohlsson & Rice 23. My 11 y/o son got his first contest win in Beginner Jr Stunt this summer at the SIG contest. I'm still struggling to get the pattern together well enough to compete in intermediate. Us old farhts learn kind of slow. It's a great time to do CL. There are more kits, engines, designs and just info available right now than ever in history. Here are some helpful links:

Thank y'all for the info. Its been a while since my youth, but I still remember the childhood want to fly the big nobler with the shinny "nose cone" of my uncle's.
