Ancient OK Cub .049. I hadn't run that engine in probably 20 years, but it fired up fine with a new plug. This was an original design, not a kit or plans.

Sweet.

Let us know how it flies and how it made you feel when you do. Make sure the balance point is near the leading edge or you will find your hands full... For a few seconds anyway. Ask me how I know. These models tended to tail heavy due to the high wood density used in kits of yore. Seems like it was nearly like iron.

CG is around 25%. I don't have a problem with that having flown lots of twitchy fast combat rigs in the past. Doing it again, I think I'd hollow out a chunk of wings back of 25% and put some little ribs in to save some weight. Might also build up the fuselage with 1/32 sides and triangular internal bracing.

When I get the mechanics sorted out, I'm thinking about maybe kitting it.

With the goofiness of the clunk deal maybe 5 minutes and it would quit with around a 1/2 still left. I gotta make a tank for it. Got some shim brass the other day. Maybe that's today's project...
