Black Hawk Phantom

1 Attachment(s)
I just noticed Black Hawk Models are kitting the old Keil Kraft Phantom, which makes a nice C/L nostalgia project or basic trainer for the kids to build and fly. I built one from an old plan a couple of years back, the thread here created some interest and others made some up as well. Great little sheet wing fun project.
Black Hawk's kit looks comprehensive, with all parts needed for the build included.

You should be able to find one here:

The quality of the kits are outstanding. Especially the completness of the hardware. No matter which kit you choose you will be glad you did.

Is the Phantom a 2.5 (A) or B (I'm a USA guy, uh, .29 size) size TR model?
It is very attractive.

Hi Chris, I will say it's neither of those choices; I will say it ranges between 1.0cc to 1.49cc(.061 to .09cu"). I keep bringing up the Blackhawk
site and look at that darned Phantom kit myself. Of course you can probably fly the model with a .5cc Paw diesel, or a .25cu" glow if
you dare.

Since it is advertised as a companion model to the "Perky" I would guess that as a "speed" model, it should have a .15 (2.5cc).

For a trainer or sport model, something less. The one on the Black Hawk Models site in military colors I think has a Gilbert .11 in it. Looks sharp with that setup!

Since those solid wings will increase wing loading, you probably want a light engine.

That is an old timey, nice looking plane.

Makes me want to get one, sand and fill it till the paint looks like it was dipped on and set it on a desk somewhere.

If I could just get the little 1/2A Army racer I bought from them a couple years ago done! Sitting there in grey primer forever on my build table, along with my Brodak Shoestring and Cardinal and a whole bunch of other stuff that just collects on my table whenever I'm not there building.
