RE: 1/2A Dacron flying line?

My 1/2 A Dacron line is simply .012 thick heavy duty sewing thread
Dacron is abrand name for polyester
this is a woven thread (multi fibe) - NOT a single strand (monofilament) thread
For what it's worth
these lines have more drag than .008 braided steel lines
for example - I can fly on .008 lines 50 ft long with about same line rag s 35 ft Dacron (.012)
The steel lines are fragile tho - rolling -unrolling must be done with care!

Just buy some Spectra fishing line and you will be all set. Be sure and use the Palomar knot to tie this line (Google Palomar knot if you don't know how to tie it).

Is the Spiderwire EZ braid the same stuff as the Spectra?

You are so correct about the dacron sewing thread. I recall getting a spool of it and making up 25ft. lines for my Guillows Profile Trainer 1 and Cub 074 when I was a kid. And yes the .008 solids work well on a half A set up. Don't know about the new synthetic fishing line. May be better than the dacron sewing thread. Didn't know you were C/L savvy Dick.
