For the right person with the skills, patience, place to work, and tools... there can be a lot of enjoyment in a rebuild. You're doing a fine job... see it through and the reward will be yours in both a good airplane and the satisfaction of saving it.

I saw this plane before any work was begun to repair the crash damage. It looked far worse then the first images that were posted of it in this thread. I saw it again recently in person and WOW! amazing work!
I am really impressed at the quality work that has been done to bring this plane back to life. I consider myself fairly good, but not sure I could have done as good a job job, well done!

Put some paint on it last night. It will make a great practice plane for Sean to prepare for Top Gun. The closest thing to a BT-13 we have. Took some pictures of the AT-6 today. Sean flew it one flight with the gear down. That yellow sure shows up against the blue sky! Thanks to Seans flying ability and Brians building skills, it flew great!

I rotated the engine to get the exhaust from being in front of the wing, it is about an inch higher that when it was originally built. The exhaust goes over the wing instead of over and under. The smoke system is in and wow, does it put out a lot of smoke! Cant wait to see how it looks in-flight. I am going to replace the retract air valve and try to get the left retract working freely and it will be time for another flight. I will try to get some pictures this time. The nmore I look at it the more I like it and realize what a great job Tampaflyer did rebuilding this plane. I think it will be better than when it was first built.

We had a great time with the AT-6 and other planes this last Sunday. Sean and Brian both flew it.It flew great and the smoke looked awesome. Brian also flew his FW-190 that he converted to electric. Its the most detailed 40 size aircraft I have ever seen. The quality workmanship is on par with many Top Gun aircraft I have seen competing there. He literally flew the wheels off of it! Sean got a couple flights on the 60 size BT-13 which Brian also converted to electric. Great weather and some great flights.
