Thats about as clean as it gets..Initially it looks minor. I am sure there were shock waves that created hidden damage into the wings and tail.
How would a motor fair with a knock like that?

Heck if that didn't hurt the motor at all I would go buy a lottery ticket ! It could have been way uglier. Hope you ,or the owner gets it back in the air quick.

What made it die?
What made it die?
As this was the first ever deadstick this engine has had,..pilot wasn't exactly sure what caused it,..but smoke system is a suspect, even though plane has had many successful flights with smoke on. Here is [link=http://cvrcclubvideos.us/HDVids/ChrisSmoke.wmv]one of them[/link]

Here is the skinny from the pilot
Just before this flight he had changed out the smoke tubing diameter to a larger size, not realizing that it would create this bad event, Then when he turned the smoke on for the first time during this flight it over pumped smoke fluid into the mufflers and that increased back pressure and killed the engine.... So make sure that you watch out for the little things they can get ya.

Now that there's funny.
Wow, it only took one well placed shot. The shooters name couldn't possibly be Murphy, could it?
Good to see it repaired and back in service again.
