There is no 'simple' way to do it but if it were my plane, I would try a little gentle heat from a heat gun to see if I could pry it loose.

Another thought... is this an ARF? If so, can you get into the back side of the firewall? I am wondering if it's put into place with some hot melt. Again, you could use heat (but not as much) and pick the chunks of hot melt off with a dental pick or something similar. Home Depot has something that could be used:

You can find this at other home centers and woodworking stores as well, I'm willing to bet.

I am sure that there are other really good ideas out there as well. When you reinstall the firewall, use 30-minute epoxy and take the time to fuel proof the bare balsa that is now exposed.

Just my $.02.

+1 use the heat gun. Arf's are put together with hotmelt glue and I have done this before. Just keep heating it until it comes loose

I have pushed them back level and scabbed a new piece over the top. But it should come out with a little heat and some patience.

Push on it from the rear with a board or tile in front to help "flatten it out.... There is your template - prior to removing it.
