Cap 232 elevator servo failure :(

1 Attachment(s)
I went flying yesterday and flew my cap for the first time in 6 months and had a good first flight. My second flight was a little shakey and on my landing i riped my plastic landing gear bolts out. Before i i made my third flight i thought to my self rather i chould quit now or make one more flight. Well i decided to make a third flight and it was a big mistake. I flew around for a few minutes and went into a cuban 8 and when i roled out of the first half loop i lost all elevator. I was nosed down to the ground about 200 feet in the air and had the stick pulled back as far as it would go and nothing happend untill it was about 25 to 50 feet off the ground it glitched and the noise came up a little from a noise dive and by then it was too late.:(:( When i brought it home to investagate what happend, I noticed that my elevator gears was striped out. I asked some of the guyes in the club might have happend because the saw everything and they agreed that my plane was going so fast that the gears striped out. Well That was my favorite plane to fly but i guss not anymore..When It hit the ground the wings flew up in the air about 6 feet or so and about 4 sec later you heard the crashing sound. It sounded like a bomb going off :D.

Never say "Just one more flight." More than one of my crashes have come right after I spoke those words.

When you love airplanes like I do, it's never fun to see a wrecked one no matter who's it is. Just like a pet, you should get another one right away. It will help with the mourning. I lost a FuntanaS recently and felt better only after buying another one. After putting 10 flights on it last weekend I am a new man. :D

You stripped gears mid flight????? I would have to say that you had other problems and the gears stripped upon impact with terra firma.............Either way that sucks man. I had a pristine Sukhoi that I lawndarted due to dumb thumbs.........I know how ya feel........

Neo has a valid point here...

Also, if your gears strip in flight it is not very likely it will glitch up when you are holding up elevator.

When you ripped out the undercarriage bolt did it knock the servo or elevator control surface? An impact is more likely to damage the servo than an airborne load.

I ripped the undercarriage off my Staudacher the other day. I stripped the gears on my wing mounted aileron servo as it contacted terra firma. Luckily enough it was easy to spot or I may have done the same thing!

WHEN I STRIPED THE LANDING GEAR OFF IT NEVER TOUCHED THE ELEVATOR BECAUS THE ELEVATOR IS SO HIGH OFF THE GROUNG..

Well its been 4 days since i crashed it and im over it now but i still got 4 more planes to crash [>:]

The tail doesn't need to hit to strip a servo. The force of the impact can and will travel through the fuselage. Still sorry to see it crash.........

HANG ON
i may no the problem!, a friend at my club had a prankstar, and crashed it nose first into the ground because of 'an elevator problem'
but its the pushrod (his survived!) it got bent (from the force of a loop) and just didnt work!, this may have happened to yours

that is a good thought i never thought of that.. I was going through the half loop at full throttle..
That could have happened.. Oh well though its done and over.. Guss its tine to get a hangar 9 corsair.. Oh i had a os .61 on a .40 size plane.

Instead of just letting it bore in when you realize you dont have any elevator, why not roll on to the wingtips and try to use your rudder as an elevator? if anything you might be able to buy some more time to see whats going on.

Better she goes down coming out of a loop then rotting in some hanger somewhere...;)
