RCU Forums - Super Tigre is now Super Splinter!

My son and I just joined our local club to fly a Super Tigre trainer one of my friends from my beer route gave to me. He said his brother and him flew it about twice and crashed it and broke the engine mounts so he gave it to me. Well it sat in the barn for about 4 yrs cause we were into trucks so much didn't have much time for planes, well the time came and I had to get a new radio for it cause it had a old Futaba in it. Put all new electronics in it built a new engine mount and everything seemed to work fine the engine even fired up on the original glow plug that was probably 10yrs old, but the engine wouldn't transfer from idle to full without stalling every time no matter how you tuned it. So new engine time I got a new Evolution trainer system and it ran sweet. Took it to the field everything is set, my son is 10 yrs old and could not even wait to fly this thing Me either. The first flight with me on the sticks went great I was hooked to a buddy box with my inst. no probs. Second flight my boy at the sticks , doing better than I was might I add and he is completely handicapped with limited strength because of a spine disease and RC he can do awesome because of lots of time behind the sticks of all his trucks. Flying back at us then straight down no control at all our other inst. was trying to save it the whole time and all he kept saying is . "it's not responding" "it's not responding"[:'(] man he felt terrible but we both know from crashing lots of parts on our trucks that things happen. Brought it back and checked everything, nothing wrong with the electrics at all or the engine, but as it went straight down into the corn field next to our runway since the corn is about 7 ft tall right now it ripped the tail completely off. Well my instructor let us fly his Sig Kadet Senior ARF and that was sweet so I ordered one from Tower and it came broke so I had to send it back right away, then it went on back order MAN I WANT TO FLY so bad, well with about a weeks worth of run around from Tower I finally have a blue Sig coming instead of the red one that we originally ordered. So now we are practicing on our G2 flight simulator and I think that is really going to help me out I can now fly without thinking and land any of the planes no prob. Well went to training night at our field to just hang out while we are waiting for our new plane and Harold said some kid came to the field asking some questions about our club cause he said he crashed his plane last Tuesday night, our training night is Tuesday. Cam asked well where do you live? Oh about a mile away he said, OH CRAP. Cam offered him a free membership to our club and pleaded with him to not turn his transmitter on anymore when not at the field. Talk about bad luck well at least mine was given to me and not one of our members high dollar planes, well lessons learned and hopefully my new Sig will be awesome. My brother in law called tonite and said his landlord has a deadbeat brother who owes him a ton of money and his brother skipped town so he went over and cleaned the apartment out he was renting to him and a whole lot of airplanes around 8 he said and a couple of trucks and he is just looking to get rid of them, he said they are just collecting dust so hopefully a good deal awaits!!!! Glad to be in the hobby and I love this site. Talk about a long post huh! :)
