Crash victim in need of help
 

I crashed my 4* 60 this last week. It was converted to a twin. I lost the right engine and when I figured it out, well it was too late. I have only flown it about 8 times or so. I am just starting to fly a twin. Does anyone out there have a 4* 60 and/or 120 wing they are willing to part with. I could actually use both. I have posted the usual want ads with RCU. I have managed to salvage the fuselage, but the wing is more than I want to repair. I could buy the complete plane for just about what the wing costs. Don't really want to do that either. I have now figured out how to program my radio to simulate an engine failure. Maybe I can gain some practical experience without sacrificing the plane.

My nephew and I crashed his 4*60 a few months ago, but the wing was damaged pretty good (pulled ribs out at root, plus significant damage to both leading edges, several ribs, etc...) so I don't think it's worth the effort. Tower Hobbies just got in a new shipment of 4*60's. Ours should be here tomorrow.

You're radio can simulate an engine failure? Hmmm....

I don't know about the radio simulator, but a computer-based RC simulator like RealFlight or Aerofly Deluxe Pro should help prevent future problems. They can simulate deadsticks, and on multi-engine planes will kill one or more engines if you want. I've never flown a real twin, but from what I've seen happen to others at the field and me on the sim is that you can't over-throttle the remaining engine. To much thrust on one side will cause the plane to start a spin and will end the flight pretty quick. The trick, I'm told, is to baby the throttle just enough to keep it flying, remembering to counter the lopsided thrust with rudder and aileron. And land as soon as you can.

Thanks, I was suspect that the G2 simulatator would do single engine outs, but I had never tried it. Actually I did not even think about it until I lost my first engine. I have programed my 8103 so that If I throw one of the slaved/mixed switches the engine will come back to idle or whatever percent I want. I plan to start with a 30 percent reduction in power first.
