The wing on the big stik is in good shape a bad covering job but structurly good--As for it fitting I have no idea

I have a long standing tradition when it comes to crashed airplanes, provided they are deemed totalled. I pull everything off the plane of any value then I burn it right there at the field. It is sort of a viking funeral. Lets just say I am releasing its spirit of flight back to the feild, sort of a conservation of flight karma. People look at me like I'm crazy, but when I explain my theory they seem to nod in agreement and accept that my intentions are good.

I take a good chuck of the wing if there's any left, mount it on a piece of hardwood so it stands in the air. It's kinda like a trophy and a tribute to remember it by. Bad thing is I'm starting to get to many of these.

I take the plaen and put it in a corner with the other crashed planes and look at them now and again to see what kind of strang plane i can make.

I used the parts from three different crashed planes to build one new one. The size of the tail surfaces from one were similar to the ones destroyed on another plane, and I had a wing with the same root chord as my fuse.
When it was finished it was covered in three different schemes and I put graphics on the wing with the new name. "Debris". :D
Funny thing is, it flew better than any of the original three. Flew the heck out of it for a couple years until it lived up to it's name. :rolleyes:

I had three crashed airplanes I took to a club auction once. With each one I included the plans used to build them. Sold them for more than I had in them! :surprised ???????? The funny thing was that some of the ready to fly stuff didn't sell but they went at the crashed stuff like mad! 10 years later, I saw one of them at another auction repaired and ready to go. Life can be a circle.

For my crashed planes, I usually replace the broken prop and go fly again! (I mostly fly SPADs)

Must agree with kingwoodbarney, I also rip everything of value out of the plane and then torch the thing. Why keep a completely destroyed airplane? I do keep a small piece though like the rudder seeing as that always seems to survive a crash! Then I hang the piece on the ceiling with a string.
It won't fly again with an engine on it so why not let it's spirit fly again!!!

whenever i or one of my mates crashed a plane with foam wing i take the wing and cut the bad bits off and make a slightly smaller foam wing! i make a fuse for it and fly it again.
if it crashes again i repeat the process until the wing is too short!

Great postings everyone. About all I can say is that there is some unbelievable imagination in the minds of R/C flyers.

Well, I am still on my first plane, and Aerobird. It has had plenty of crashes since I am self taught and I did most of my learning in 8-12 MPH winds.

I have hit hard enough to completely destroy the motor mount. I just finished rebuilding it again, this time out of metal. Heaven knows what I did to the weight and the CG. I haven't finished balancing it yet, but this motor should be able to stand almost anything.

If I smack it up bad enough, I will buy another fuselage and take the guts out of this one and put the radio gear and motor into something else, if it still works.

People say you can't do that, but I don't see why. It would just have to be a body shape that could take these components. Maybe a light flying wing.

I like the idea of the parts swap.

I have a big stik 40 plane for swap--needs a new covering job and hinges re-glued--I am willing to swap some rc stuff for it--let me know

I've been flying off and on for about 30 years.
I tought myself how to fly, so I killed a lot of planes.
As a kid, I burried them in my parents back yard.
A practice I still follow today.
I strip out anything of value to use in other planes,
and bury the rest.

there's always someting off the old planes that I use on the new
the last one I crashed, was a mid star 40, and the next plane I put together was an LT40, which has the landing gear off the mid star on it.

At my fields, various traditions are followed:

One guy, like Kingwood, ignites them right there at the field,,,I've even seen him leave servos in them!!!

Another takes it home, and puts it in his unfinished basement batroom,,,so far his shower stall is filled, and can definatley not fit any fixtures in there.

Personally, I've even included a kitchen garbage bag in the fuse while putting the wing on,,,, just so I don't have to bother the other guys to help me carry the pieces back to the van,

No there is one guy who's a little "crazy:,, he actually takes them home,,,,,,,,,,,,,and rebuilds them!!!!!!! I've seen what any other guy would say is a "totalled" plane re-appear at the field in a week or two,,, ready to fly.

Go figure,,,,,,,,,

I put a trash bag in a film canaster and put it in the nose of the plane, im ready like you so others dont have to help me yet, lol.

i build my planes well, i only have ever had to re-attach wing panels, put in a new engine mount, or a new firewall

You see i dont usually fly all this ARF malarchy so i dont get the balsa-scattered-everyway crashes that are associated with them! :D

I take all my crashed airplanes home. Then i get an axe. I chop them up, and put them in boxes and i hide them. I somtimes use pieces for wood things.

While I think giving a crashed plane a proper burning is a good way to send it off, I found myself glad that I didn't with my profile not too long ago. I ended up giving it to a younger modeler at the field who fixed it and had it flying in a week. Just made me glad that the plane is back in the air, teaching its new owner how to get wild.
