Didn't have enough airspeed trying to bank it back towards the lake. She stalled and flew right into the tree. Luckily, the branches had previously been cut off so it was easy climbing for the recovery mission. I broke the prop, front nosecone and suffered a few small cuts in the covering from the stick I used to knock it out of the tree. We caught it with a tarp and it flew again that day.

I don't know why your not getting more comments. That picture is worth at least a thousand words. Looks like a beautiful place to fly. But that image of you in the tree is just plane funny.:D I think we should keep this going and try to come up with some witty caption for the picture like one of those corporate motovational posters.

AMBISSION - Nothing worth having is easy to get... to.

The general rule that applies most often is that there must be at least one airplane-eating tree in most flying areas. Murphy's second law says that your plane will always fly to the top of one of the largest, very tallest trees around. One tree that even our approximately 40-foot fiberglass telephone line pole will not reach! Then we see the lasso folks, some who try to shoot the limb down, the resident monkey that proceeds to climb the very tall tree, and the really smart landowner who goes back to the house to get his chainsaw. From the botany I did take, I never did understand the propensity of trees to run into airplanes. :D

Here's a pic of the special tool needed for removal. Man that tree had one heck of a grip on her.

After climbing your way to the top you find you still can't reach your goal.

You know how a watched pot never boils? Well I can confirm that planted balsa never grows. Early on, I tried my best to populate the flying field and far surrounding areas with balsa trees, but alas, it never did work. :)

Great pic of the new hangar.

You're in Jasper? Spent some time up there about 5 years back. The drive between Banff and Jasper is the most beautiful I've ever seen. I'm jealous of your surroundings but not the cold you must be experiencing!

It does get pretty cold up here but just about everywhere is colder than daytona beach. You do get used to it though. Here's another pic, the plane is in the pic. Still looking for it's hanger I guess.

Awsome. I used to live in Michigan. But, now when it gets around 50 degrees, it does seem to get cold as your blood thins out the more you live in hotter climates. Thanx for the GIANT poster:D.Take care---> Scott
