Default Suggestions on getting a camcorder fixed

I have a JVC camcorder that is about 2 years old but has very little use on it. Problem is that it won't charge the batteries. I have two batteries that I got with it, the original and a larger upgrade, and one I bought about 6 months ago. When I plug it into the charger a charge light should come on to indicate charge. The light won't come on so it isn't charging. I've called the JVC service line to find a repair shop and the one that is given is out of business. I'm not even sure if it would be worth the expense to have it repaired. Any suggestions?

Default RE: Suggestions on getting a camcorder fixed

I would bet that the camcorder is fine. The batteries, however, have most likely gone to that big charger in the sky thru lack of use. Once they sit around and go flat for a length of time (6 months I believe you said?) nothing is going to charge them back up. Quite often they can even reverse polarity or a cell is just plain dead. The camcorder wont see it as a chargeable battery hence the lack of charging light.
Buy/borrow a battery that you know is good and try that first.

Thanks Fubar. I'm hoping that is it however I thought that was the problem originally and went and got a new battery and that wouldn't indicate a charge either. I'll take the camcorder and the charger up to a shop and see if I can put a battery in it and try it out before I buy it. Thanks again for your help.
