Ok guys I mentioned that a mate was making or trying to get a still onto my savs
no secerets with me, thi sis early stages, it is flying (not by me) he says it feels a wee like training mode when you are normal mode.
once its a flyer proper we will make it a permanant mount then post more

Those are good photos. What kind of camera is that? Looks like you're using the battery to counterbalance the camera. I see the stock battery tray has been replaced with a circuit board. Does that trigger the camera?

this is the standard board, no mods at all (savs board)

no trigger yet for the shot, just timer, and a lot of throttle

Hey that looks pretty good man.
Just a question,how much does that olympus weigh ? some sites say 110 gram,is that with or without battery?
As for a trigger,you can get the servo breakout cable at DFI and hook up a micro servo and stick that to the shutter button..works good.
And do the standard motors have any trouble lifting the cam at all?

word is from pilot mate and designer of the incredible hitech design you saw (elasticbands) the df flew with no worries at all, as far as weight goes not sure, the model of the camera is in the corner of the last image. I will ask him and post results.

I am into sharing the results so nothing held back with me guys, lets ALL move forward!

I got you. Haven't looked at the SAVS system that closely. A person could take a sheet of cf and cut out a new battery tray in that shape, then mount some sort of lightweight bracket on it to hold the camera securely. It would be great to be able to trigger the camera with a key fob type deal.

my intentionis to use the spare channel on the transmitter and hook upto shoot from that, keep it simple and all togethter

Cheeper than any infrared trigger device...and youre able to "half"depress the shutter button,if you have a potmeter on channel 6 .

Looks good and takes decent shots!!

For those of us starting with a standard DF V, I've heard of folks making battery outriggers using tongue depressors or popsicle sticks...Should work. Or just a couple of CF rods from the hobby shop...

i would be happy to trace around the savs board, and scan post the image, then you guys can make a stencil go eat some icecream then when you feel sick the container should be empty, then hey presto a bit plastic.
I'm sure you can buy plastic but it sounds so much more fun to eat the icecream first :)

Cre8web, Thats Huge Mate! I knew we can get commercial level photos and videos from a basic DF. You are the second person on here to get great photos off a DF. I am unfortunately, out of the trails for now since I am broke. So I am just practicing fying till I can afford a camera. I have constructed a camera mount of my own whch hopefully protects the camera in serious crashes. I too have hopes to use this with my mast setup for realty tours. Again, thanks for sharing! You rock! :D

Hi, i've looked at a few digital cameras, a lot of them are very small and getting smaller, I was thinking of doing some surgery on one to lose some excess weight, but it might be just as well to wait for the next generation of cameras, they seem to get better resolution and smaller size all the time.
It'd be a bugger to spend hours trimming one down, only to find a new model half the size :P

Those are some nice pictures you're getting with that camera, I have been talking to a guy who built a camera mount for his single rotor gas "chopper" and he used four strings to "dangle" the camera under the chopper to isolate it from high frequency vibration.
He also laughed at my little draganfly as a AP platform, he thought it would be too underpowered in any kind of wind, which is probably fair comment, I dont like flying when there is any more than the lightest breeze :)

I was considering weaving a spiderweb of elastic bands between the main board and the battery board to "Suspend the Camera" may still try it

Great job!

I think you will go through several attempts to mount your camera better - it is a new tangent to the DF hobby. As for eliminating the high frequency vibration issue - I think I have done that successfully. I haven't been able to fly outdoors in over a month do to our strange winter weather - raining, above average temps and when it clears it drops to -15C and windy as heck. I have been flying indoors only.

Here is a video showing anti-vibration at work in my setup http://vssi.ca/dfvideo/DFV_novibe.wmv . It has been edit through windows to reduce size only - no other processes (I left the full 80Mb file in the directory as well). I don't think you will see any vibration (lots of crappy flying but - the room I'm flying in is 12x12 and has the curtains of death on the right side).

Have had good luck with the Sony digital cameras as far as weight and usability goes. The T7 is only 4.7 oz loaded and a micro servo tapes or hot-glues easily in front of the shutter button to allow the servo arm to trip a still shot, up to 11 still shots, or start and stop video. the T10 I think is not much more weight but also offers image stabilization would be awesome. I have a roll of velcro tape I am going to try out next. Tried the duct tape mount but was a pain to easily take on and off. Velcro utilized in a fashion similar to the top photos of the band mount should work well. I will try that out and post some photos. Thanks for the tips! nice photos!

No headaches - now that I am used to it, it is a great machine to fly.

Here is a photo of the front - the camera can be angled anyway you want (manually for the moment). While this setup is not intended for the SAVS it will work if you remove the SAVS board and a few other bits and pieces (hehe).
