Default Mini Stick P-N-P problems revisited.....

Ok, so I have been having an electrical problem with my mini stick p-n-p version. I thought the speed control was burnt so I bought a new one from e-bay, possibly a mistake in itself. Upon installing it and attempting to enter programming mode and plugging in my pi-po, the motor immediately started sparking and glowing bright red. Is it my motor that is bad and not my speed control? This is my only electric plane so I can't swap components totroubleshoot the problem. Someone please help, I am an electric newbie and about to swear off electric and get rid of this thing!
