what is the best way to measure a pack with a load??

Hi Guys,
Im new to the lipo batteries.I would like to know how everyone is checking there batteries. What are you guys using to put a load on them, and how much of a load are you putting on them,1 amp,2 amps???Some guys have told me to use light bulbs, but i want to be a little more accurate than that, and i don't know how many amps the light would be pulling.I just dont want to let the voltage drop to low on these expensive batt packs, and ruin them!
