Help with E-Starter

I've been flying planes for 15 years, and need a little help w/electric flight. I bought an E-Starter (380) as my 1st electric, and want to know what ESC and Battery to buy. I have a Li-poly charger (Triton), and want to go Poly or Ion. I also need to know what ESC to buy as the Poly cells pull more amps. I'm thinking about a 10amp ESC, and 2S Poly pack (which ones???).
Thanks,
Andy

Help with E-Starter

The performance of this plane on the stock motor was dissapointing to me. I went to 8 AAA batteries and it was much improved.

Now I am running an 8 turn Astro 010 in the GWS gearbox modified by www.parkflyermotors.com

I use a 3 cell 1200 mah e-tec pack. The plane has unlimited vertical, takes off in 5 feet and flys for 20 minutes if I use full throttle about 25% of the flight.

I fly it almost every day.

Help with E-Starter

Thanks for the reply... My plan is to setup the plane w/ a 15amp esc (brushed), stock motor, and li-poly batts. Hopefully this will give the flight times I want. I'm really not looking for a vertical flyer (not yet), but want a 20min plane to sit back and fly.
Any help on which batts to go with. I've read that 2s2p is the way to go. This should give me 7.2V, 1200mah, and about 9amps????? What would be the ideal batts, esc, and prop size using the stock motor and gearing...

2s2p sounds right with a 10X8 prop.

Use a new blade to cut the ailerons and tape the hinge gaps after you mount them This will improve their response. The plane turns best with a little rudder mixed in.

The landing gear is a weak spot. I used epoxy. I also recommend backing up the battery door with a velcro flap so you don't loas a battery pack. (Yours will cost more than the plane!)

2S2P of what brand & size LiPoly batteries? That makes a BIG difference.

A 2S2P pack of Etec 1200 cells will give you 7.2V and the capacity to draw up to 14 Amps. Just because the pack can produce 14 Amps continuously does not mean that you will get 14 Amps through the motor. Amps depends on how many Volts your pack has, and the configuration of the motor. The E-starter with stock motor and 10x8 prop will draw about 7 Amps.

I regularly fly my E-starter with a 2S1P pack of Etec 1200's, for about 10-12 minutes at a time. The pack gets a little warm, but not terribly so.
