voltage cutoff question
Hello,
I am new to electrics. I started with a Jeti 8 esc and later got a Phoenix 10. I noticed that I don't get the run times with the Phoenix that I did with the Jeti. It is on the same plane, the only thing that was changed is the esc. I ordered a Phoenix link cable and flashed it to the latest 12.1 version. I left everything at the default, but the brake ( now off). I did look at the settings of the Phoenix, and notice that the cut off for a 2cell Li-po is 6 volts. I have checked, and the Jeti has an auto cut off of 2.56v per cell( 5.12v for a 2cell). Would it be safe to change the cut off point to 5.12v for a 2 cell Li-po on the Phoenix 10? Or is this pushing the batteries too hard, and the 6v setting is better for battery life, and safety? I appreciate any words of wisdom. Thanks, turbo |
RE: voltage cutoff question
2.56V is much too low for a LiPoly. You probably won't cause any safety issues, but it is certainly detrimental to the LiPoly cells.

RE: voltage cutoff question
Once voltage drops to 3V per cell, the voltage is dropping at quite a rapid rate, so lowering the threshold won't really extend run times all that much anyway, and performance is quite reduced at these voltage levels anyway. Not worth the risk.
