new battery type?

In the May issuse of MA, in the FAQ section, there was a question about the Sanyo Eneloop battery and it's application in the hobby. I love the answer which said the battery pack could be charged at the end of the flying day and shelved for long periods of time with no loss of voltage at all. This would be great for transmitters since I don't quick charge it and it takes 15 hrs. to fully charge.

The answer said they are AA size which is 1.5v. How could you use them for transmitters since they use 9.6v packs? A similar Eneloop pack would be 12v. Does anyone know of a company making packs with these batteries. The company mentioned in the article doesn't show any on their web site.

RE: new battery type?

All of our transmitters will operate on primary AA cells 1.5 volts X 8 = 12 volts. No problem. The Eneloop are a nominal 1.2 volts just the same as our Ni-Cds and Ni-Mh cells.
