Default aerobatics with the blade!

first off,
stall turns,
stall turns on the blade i found pretty easy, at least with the 180 ones, i have not tried to do a 540 because i'm concerned about the tail's power, with those of you that have, how high do you go?

loops,
how 'symetrical' are your loops? how much altitude is lost usually? i found the insufficient fff speed of the blade a real issue here, i need to enter a dive before performing a proper loop, and even with that, the loops are not symetrical.

rolls,
i've been practicing stationary rolls and am able to perform them at about one and a half story high (only loosing maybe bout 4~5ft with a good one...). i found the blade rolling much better than looping, but insufficient power (upright and inverted) is really becoming an issue, and the tail will not hold, chances are, i'll be turned almost 90 degrees clockwise before exitting the roll (with revo set up). and after i've exited the roll, i'll still be dropping because of the little power it has. i'll not investigate in a bl motor and a hh (saving up for a trex SE). i already have a futaba 7c tx.

elevator flips,
i've tried them, backward flips will probably result in kinda like a tail slide, and forward elevator flips can be done, i've only done one (but crash due to me frecking out). elevator flips are not as great as aileron flips on the blade.

inverted flights,
i've not done any, but am assuming what can be done upright can probably done inverted with lots of skills. i have seen experienced pilots do inverted manoeuvres on the blade.

multiple loops, rolls and flips i've not able to do, and don't know if it is possible with the little power of the blade. when upgraded, the blade can be made to perform more like a mx-400 i'd say... http://media.putfile.com/Hyper-BCP-Pro-10906. by nick maxwell.

i don't know if the blade is capable of doing anything else other than the ones above. i've been able to do upright funnels with it, so my guess is that i'll also do inverted ones, tic tocs are not possible and anything aggressive with the tail is not possible either...

please share your experiences

Default RE: aerobatics with the blade!

I did an elevator flip today with my CX!

In fact it went end over end 3 times before it came to rest in a pile of leaves. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

Next time I want to practice FF flight, I need to be a couple of feet off the ground. This is a little hard on the bodywork.
I think I need a bandaid.

know what you mean about loops - have to have loads of FFF
[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4uLaJOvVbA]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4uLaJOvVbA[/link]

i got a brushless motor to give me more power to get round the loop
now my prob is when i give loads of throttle the tail swings
all over the place [have dual tail] - am guna get a new chopa

this heli has been fun - but am bored of the tail issue,
although it doesnt seem to bother kyle stacy!

Try a 4200kv Brushless with an 8t pinion. You'll do one loop after another until you get bored, big round loops too. Stock tail seems ok just apply the throttle smoothly.

Once you get the brushless it'll feel like a whole new heli

i know bl will make it a different bird. but with bl, you'll have to get an ESC and probably some form of tail mod and a hh gyro... i'm saving up for a SE. kyle has bl and e-flight g90. he also added an extra tail support rod on top of the tail mount so he can blade scuff, seen all of his vids...

I just used a $24 brushless motor and $20 speed controller, the rest is stock. You won't get more bang for the buck with any other mods. The stock tail is fine for basic aerobatics, that's all I can do anyway.

ya, i know, my only concern is the tail as i said, even without bl, stationary roll will make the tail wonder off quite bad, i can't imagine how teh tail will behave with the extra power and torque from the bl motor. a gyro and some tail mode and the bl/esc will probably run my over 120 and that's like 136 CAD, only 15, and as i've said, saving up for a trex, so... i really wish i could go bl and hh gyro though... i'm not comfortable going beyond stationary rolls with the blade due to the gyro and power. i think i'll try new things when i get the trex.

What ones did you use?

The price sure is right.

you'll also need a pinion.

your lucky you landed at the right angle, i actually had an unexpected landing after one of my first 10 loops, after the loops, it's still sinking fast with full throttle/collective. and it basically landed itself on grass and mud, pretty lucky, if it'd been like 5 degree's off, i'd see a busted bird.

I've had good luck with this motor

http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...49&pid=U834468

Any 9 amp or better controller would be fine

http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=A0780191

Best $50 you can spend on the blade. Much more power and better run times.
