I know there had been negative chatter about this company but to offer a differing view, my experience has been excellent with the company and Sonny specifically. Maybe he does re-brand his products and mark them up, if he does, what's the big deal?? He adds value with the ease of purchase from one website, the videos, and good customer service. I have now ordered every one of his products except the upgraded blades and if you saw my CX fly you would say it was worth every penny. I don't want to clip off the plastic part of the shaft, I don't want to buy from a few different sites and pay shipping everytime. To me the mark up is worth it and come on, it's not as though his prices are astronomical. I have e-mailed back and forth with Sonny with questions and his replies have been prompt and informative. I did have a problem with the motors and sent them back and he sent me a new set within a week. To me that is worth it. I will definitely continue to purchase from him - the performance advertised is the performace my heli has experienced and in the end that's the important part to me.

For what it's worth, that's my two cents.

Hobie,

No one is denying you the right to buy parts from this guy. If you feel the 100% markup is worth not having to shop around a bit for the identical parts on other websites, then by all means go for it. Just be aware that the "upgraded motors" he sells were marketed for the Dynam Vortex heli and actually lower quality (and performance) than the stock E-Flite motors.

I hear what you're saying but all I know is that for about $50 bucks my heli went from good to great, and for me I am happy with that. I am still not using the motors as I am not sure they will improve my performance. Perhaps another issue for me is that since he is in Canada there is a savings for me on the shipping. In fact I went to buy some stuff off boomtown but there website wouldn't allow me to ship to Canada, so that for me is another benefit. Anyway, I hear what you're saying, for me, his products have worked well and were convenient and fast to purchase.

This forum will always expose differing opinions and that in and of itself is the beauty of it. At the end of the day we all just want to have fun RC'ing!

Theres alot of truth to that and if it works for you...so be it. However, I don't feel that The site of the individual mentioned has yours or for that matter anyones best intentions or wants to further your enjoyment of the hobby. By preying on unsuspecting beginners and fleecing them, I don't call that decent business practice nor will I ever. I am glad you are willing to line his pockets with your hard earned cash but those of us who know what he is selling will always tell anyone who asks that it is nothing more than a total ripoff. I bought all the parts that he sells in his "stage 1 and stage 2 upgrades" for less than 50 dollars shipped to my door. So..if you really really want to spend your money to let some other guy sell you the EXACT same parts for more than twice the price......feel free.
By the way.........I got all the parts from just 2 sites and total shipping was 9 bucks. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm makes ya wonder........

Fair enough, well maybe it's a Canadian thing then. Shipping from the US to Canada is expensive. If I was to order from two American sites then the decreased cost of the merchandise would be offset by the shipping. So by the time you factor that in plus the convenience of getting it all from one site, it becomes a wash at least from a Canadian perspective.

Don't get me wrong hobie, if its working for you then its all good as you appear to know what you are getting yourself into beforehand. Most of that sites customers are not aware of what they are being sold and that is what irritates the majority of informed CX and CX2 owners. Too bad shipping is so outrageous to CA, there are some fantastic deals to be had.
