Sweet, finally a small CP heli for indoors! They have a BNF version too, which is even better. Iknow what Im putting on my wish list!

Only $180 for the BNF version, I know I'll be getting one! Looks like it's a bit bigger than an MSR but not as big as a 120 SR.

9 1/5" rotor is perfectly sized for me. Where did you see it for $180? The link I saw was$199.

yea... i'm sure after doing that for a few times it'll break. there's prolly some decent damage on something from those crashes. it's like i can fly my SR with a bent tail boom. it'll fly just not well haha.

I think it's going to be very sturdy based on its size and weight. Not much bigger or heavier than an mSR and I've bashed that thing a number of times, and Ihaven't even needed to install any of my spare parts yet.

Seems like a good way to learn/practice basic 3D tricks. All you need is a large carpeted room (and a quick reflex to cut the throttle) and it'll probably take crash after crash.

Anyone got his hands already on this thing? The big question is if it's at par with the msr when it comes to crash resistance. If it is, then purchasing is as the first CCPM heli is a no brainer, and the sales will be huge.

Well, given how well the other m models have been holding up, there is a good chance the mCPx will too. Depends on what the blades are made of. Both my mCX and mSR have hit walls, floors, ceilings, drapes, furniture and ceilings fans, with very little damage, so here's hoping the mCPx does too.

Last night I finally had to replace my upper blades on my mCX, the little pin for the flybar link broke after its 30somethingeth crash. The other side pin broke off a long time ago, after the first 30somethingeth crash. So far after several hours of flight, I have had to replace the inner shaft, and the upper blades. By this time with my Cricket, it was beyond repair.



Edit, just for kicks I did a google on the Cricket, Someone still had one flying. www.foxflier.com/cricket/index.htm Iguess it has been longer than I thought, this was back in the 80's, and I thought it was in the 90's.

At only a half ounce more than the mSR i'm betting it will be pretty durable and a cheaper way to advance into some minor 3d, but in the same logic it is going to cement some bad habits like throttle chopping that does not work out to well on your 450.... imo

I just went ahead and bought one too. I have a trex 450 and 600 but I am way to scared to try and fly crazy with them. If this little helicopter is anything like the other ones it should be pretty durable. If this one crashes it will probably not break much of anything and still be flyable unlike the bigger helicopters.

The Blade mCPX is a great little helicopter, the more I fly it the more I like it but I can't forget the early days of these tiny helis.
Here is a video I did to show the interesting similarities and contrast.

Current evolution of technology and the manpower large companies have, to produce products, are the reason
we have these great tiny flying machines, in our hands, after close to a decade from the very first, similar size, heli I designed back then, the MIA House FLY which, actually, started as a DIY kit, I was offering via various forums.

It saddens me, sometimes, to see some people take these evolved high tech tiny machines, for granted, and many people still don't undertand them and some have put down these tiny helis, as toys. When you have been involved with them for as long as I have, it gives a person a certain perspective and appreciation for them.

I think, sometimes, one of the reasons I make Upgrades for these evolved machines is to perpetuate the idea that was born in my need to have a tiny helicopter fly in my living room, nearly 30 years ago, a struggle with old technology to make things work, and eventually I succeeded, but a long learning experience with many challenges which had to be overcome.

Please don't take these present day models for granted, there is so much technology and man hours of work that has gone into making them do what they do these days. 3D Flying tiny helis in the palm of our hands. I personally like to fly in-scale-like fashion and don't care for 3D crazy flying, but if that is your cup of tea WOW! how cool is that!. Cheers! Mario

An interesting look at an early MIA Mosca 4 CH Radio Frequency Controlled with miniature swashplate and real servos (No actuator coils or IR Controlled) Helicopter similar in size to the Blade mCPX.

It is no coincidence that MIA Micro-FLIGHT does some very neat miniature RC helicopter Upgrades for various, present day, small, helicopters.

MIA Micro-FLIGHT has been doing the same for the last 10 years starting with some original helicopter kit designs and parts, which made them lightweight yet highly durable, back then, and still do, in the present form of upgrades, for similar size helis manufactured by other companies, such as the Blade mCPX, mSR, mCX, mCX2, S300, Walkera 4#3s, 4G3s, 4G6s, CB100, VD100, Nine Eagles Solos, Hirobo SRBs, Heli-Max, Align Trex100, etc.

Many of MIA Micro-FLIGHT's parts which were used in the early MIA Designs, such as the MIA TUFF(TM) LG, MIA Phantom and Edge(TM) Canopies and other small lightweight but robust mechanical G10, Carbon, Aluminum and Molded plastic parts, have been carried through, to todays MIA Upgrades for other helis for the same benefits they provided the early original small heli designs, such as the MIA House FLY, MIA Mosca, MIA Bumble Bee, and still do.

I think Horizon is not doing their customers any favors the way they market the MCPX. If you are an intermediate sport flyer and you buy the BNF version, you can setup this chopper to do some nice easy flying by cutting the Dual Rates down to about 30% on Ele. and Ail., 60% tail rotor. Bring the rotor speed down to about 3600. Reduce the negative pitch by making each cyclic control arm two turns longer. With that setup nice slow circles and hovering are very easy.

But if they are selling the RTF setup like the intermediate setup sheet for the DX6i, that is just crazy. People are going to blow the MCPX up on the first flight, which I am certain hundreds have done. It is a tough little chopper for sure, but if you crash it 20 times you are going to do some serious damage. And, in my opinion, resist the urge to install metal upgrade parts. Plastic bends and comes back, metal just bends and breaks plastic parts.

I call my MCPX setup the one for "Senior Citizens" because it is very gentle to fly. Anyone who would like a copy of my setup profile for the DX8, I would be happy to email it to you. I can send hard copy for the DX6i and DX7. Just email me let me know which you need. [email protected]

Okay, now if the MCP looked like THAT, I would buy another. That looks fantastic! For me, an R/C model has to look good for me to be interested. I had one, briefly, but returned it after the head came apart. I kept thinking the whole time that it just looks sooo crappy, the canopy sucks, misproportioned skids, and has a dumb, "flying lollipop" look to it thanks to no tail support or horizontal stab. Looks nothing like a real helicopter, or even a real R/C helicopter (even though it is one).
