Need Help Upgrading Blade CX2
Hi
I wanted to get recomendations on how to update an older Blade CX2. I wanted to know if/ and to what I should upgrade the 4:1 system. As well as any thoughts on motors? Great Thank you!<br type="_moz" /> |
RE: Need Help Upgrading Blade CX2
OK, I've got a CX2 with 3-in-1. I wanted to make it more responsive so did a few things:
Item(s) Cost 2 - Xtreme 180 Motors 27 Motor Cooling Fins 7 Boom Town Tail Boom 22 Aluminum Lower Rotor Head 18 Boom Town Stabilizer 10 Indestructible Skids 7 Aluminum Bearing Holder 6 The skids are great. Won't break. The Xtreme motors have heavy magnets and are more powerful. The tail boom reduces sensitivity to crosswind/turbulence. The aluminum lower head prevents the pins from shearing off in a crash (which I suppose is useful), but is also bling. The cooling fans theoretically help reduce "drift" in heading hold due to motors heating up. I've never been able to maintain a steady heading hold with this machine. Try going to http://www.boomtownhobbies.com/ they have most of what I've listed. Good luck! Mack |

Thank you for your help! That site was great.
Does anyone have any advice for upgrading my 4:1 ? |
RE: Need Help Upgrading Blade CX2
i don't think you can upgrade the 4in1, but what you can do is take it out, take it apart and drill cooling holes in the case.
i've upgrade to the unbreakable skids, great upgrade. other things i have done: micro heli alloy swashplate, my stock one separated. micro heli inner shaft, mine stock one bent in a nasty crash alloy bearing holder eflite alloy lower rotor head |

I upgraded my 4 in 1 with more capable MOSFETS and reverse diodes thru Mikes RC repair, but the guy seems to have gone out of business. If your CX2 lacks motor fuses, they would be a wise purchase that you can get from Boomtown. Their purpose is to protect the 4 in 1 in the event that you lawn dart your CX2 with its motors running. You should search out what Solo Boss wrote about tweaking a CX2. It is useful reading that I would have attached as a pdf except that the RCU software does not seem to be in the mood to allow me to attach anything at the moment.... Ah, got it to upload by posting and then editing post....
