First flight on the Blade CP Pro
Okay not first flight but I got your attention, it was the first battery.
So today talking to my friend and she said is my carport big enough for you to practice I said yea but I need a totally enclosed place, so I thought about it and said how about your garage. went out back and cleaned up some trash and got me a good about 12 foot by 10 foot or so space clear of anything. Got my heli out my truck and went to the garage, and turned on the TX then plugged in the battery, backed away from her and started to throttle up. easy does it. a little more, Okay blades are spinning but tail rotor isn't a little more and the tail motor came on. then back off. I really Have to get used to this motor as a tail blade. Anyhow I had my friend come down and talk to me so i powered the heli off, and talked, then keep going up and down up and down on the power.. After my friend left the garage, I got brave and gave some more power and skidded the heli around the room. wow this thing really has some power doesn't it, I am not used to almost 75% before it aurally does anything tho. Okay I know I know, i might have skipped a few steps in RADDS but I really was Bored by just a little power up and down up and down. I actually got it up off the ground a few times in a hover. not for long maybe a second or so. but THIS IS COOL... I AM FLYING my First Heli ever HOW cool.. But I was So so nervous about it. if i can just get over the nervous part then I might do pretty well. Anyways I decided to stop before i done something stupid, since I really didnt know how many minutes of power up i had done and these tx batterys stink it was in the yellow already. Could of questions just so I will be sure.. when the heli is close to lift off can you not turn it to the right, or is it left... okay better question, does the tail motor only make it move one direction? not both? I am guessing the tail motor makes it go right, and the rotation of the main blades make it go left.. cause i have never seen a heli that had a motor for the tail Thanks |
RE: First flight on the Blade CP Pro
The tail motor spins to counter act the spin of the main rotor. It doesn't spin both ways, just on or off with throttle in between. If you move the stick to 9, then it will spin counter clockwise. If you move it to 3 then it will fly clockwise. The tail rotor goes really fast, 4-5 times faster than the main blades, so if you trim the tail off, then the helicopter will naturally spin CCW.
Hope that helps, and I hope I'm right ;) |

RE: First flight on the Blade CP Pro
As far as I know, it only spins one way. If you put the stick all the way to the left (9 o clock) then the blade stops spinning and the helicopter's natural spin will move it. If you put the stick all the way to the right (3 o clock) then the rotor will kick in and blast the helicopter to the right.

RE: First flight on the Blade CP Pro
The tail only spins one way. It just speeds up and slows down. The tail rotor just counter acts the tourque of the main blades and does not need to push the other way (to the right) since the tourque of the main blades will spin the heli fast in that direction without the tail rotors help, it has to work pretty hard to just hold the heli steady. Don't worry, it's all good.

RE: First flight on the Blade CP Pro
Oh alright, thanks both of you, its working right then, its just driffrent and I have to get used to it. As I found yesterday then i cant turn the heli the one day unless I am really high on the throttle, cause I was trying to make it turn from dead on straight away, to the left then to the right. Just driffrent then I am used to.

RE: First flight on the Blade CP Pro
Well I now have 4 flights on my Blade CP Pro, I am loving it, Im autally flying a heli and its not a toyish one.
Flight 2 was on my porch today, barly got off the ground any. Flight 3 was outside in the yard, Stupid wind was blowing but I wanted to fly it. well serval lift offs and moving around foward and sideways and stuff.. went in ate dinner. Flight 4 right at dark, most of the wind went away and so ever run up was a lift off for at lest 5 secs i would say. my father was watching and looking at his stop watch he said " took me a week to learn to do that much" serveal 15 secs hovers and the last one was 30 secs.. these are not NO movment, the whole time on most i was going sideways or faward or something, but the last few I held it pretty darn still in one spot. Well more sim pratice, I hope it doesnt rain tommorrow. |
RE: First flight on the Blade CP Pro
Congrats, seems both of us are fast learners. I was hovering for a few seconds today, but the battery went dead and now it's dark out :) Going to charge it and try again in the living room (which is 6 inches away from my computer ;))

RE: First flight on the Blade CP Pro
I guess my question posted earlier is answered here. The tail blade goes only one way with variable speed and stop.when you move the rudder to the left the tail blade stops spinning.Sorry new heli and thought it was broke because of one way spinning. Hope this is right! Ron

RE: First flight on the Blade CP Pro
Hi, I'm reading your post Night_prowler26 and all the comments and it sounds alot like me. Same questions, same nervousness and same jump ahead on the Radd method. I had to stare at my CP Pro for three days as my house is to small and it's been to windy until last Saturday. I went to a school gym with the local rc club waited my turn then had a few attempts at hovering, thankfully they have a good size gym because I needed all of it to get to my first hover. On the second battery I was able to get a few seconds stable hover but mostly just scooting around the floor and a little hover here and there. So I think I'm good enough now to clearout a little room in the kitchen, wrong! I slammed sideways after a short hover and slid into the cupboard breaking my tail rotor, main blades and retaining pin. This really sucks as I need to order the parts online and it will take a couple days at least. Be aware of glitching as its happened to me and while a friend was flying in the gym, it only happens for a milli second but is noticeable. In the forums it talks about it happening when having the Tx antenna fully extended in a confined space, this happened to me while going through the swashplate test in my basement as while my Tx was on the floor when I went towards the heli it spun the rotor briefly. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I hope you don't mind me jumping in as I feel like we all have a bit in common and I hope some of this helps you guys.
Hi again Night_prowler26, I read your post on the glitch to the right and watched your video on you tube. It was hard to tell for sure on the video but I know that my cp pro when being hovered when brand new by my friend who was trimming it for me seemed to make a brief sound change and pitched slightly down to the right after a few minutes of flying. It only happened that time though and i've run about 6 packs since then. The other glitch was as mentioned in the post above. |
RE: First flight on the Blade CP Pro
I have my new CP pro also and waiting to build nerve! Think it will be a while as my cx2 needs some attention right now. I'll get there soon!

RE: First flight on the Blade CP Pro
Wow I had not read this thread in forever, Glad some new folks have these and getting used to them, I have had a glith with mine for some time, now replaced the 3 in one with a 3 in one since i have the G90 gyro and now I have added a external BEC, seems to be working better but still a glitch or two here and there.
