HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
I just bought a CP PRO from my LHS yesterday. For about 15 years now I've always been strictly surface(8 boats, 4 cars- mostly nitro) so this is my first helicopter. Anyway got it home, charged the battery, put it on the floor, and could'nt get it to do anything. Finally I hit the IDLE UP switch on the transmitter, and the rotors started to spin pretty fast so I turned it off. I went outside thinking that I was finally ready to fly. I put it on the ground, and both servos worked fine, the tail rotor worked fine, but the main rotor would'nt spin. I tried everything, and can't get the main rotor to work, but everything else works great. I unplugged the motor for the main rotor, and tested it - it works fine. Did I smoke the 3-1 ?????? ANY HELP ???????

ANY HELP ??????? how do yo know the tail was working? it start moving when you gavce throttle. I am not sure, check your plugs going into the RX and make sure there all pluged in right. if the one for main motor is backwards it wont do anything (dont ask how i found that out) if the 3 in one was messed up i wouldnt think the tail motor would work. good luck. |
RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
It might be worth running it back to your LHS and having them give it a quick look over.

RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
I reversed the main rotor plug with tail rotor plug and now the main rotor works, but the tail does'nt. I tried changing the polarity, still nothing. And all three servos do work. I'm about to go to my LHS. These people don't like to take stuff back. They'll probably tell me the send it back to the Horizon. Years ago I bought some 2 part epoxy from them, and got home the hardener was all dried up. They would'nt give me a refund on a $7.00 can of epoxy. Since then they have lost ALOT of my business. At least $2000.00 (over the years) worth for a $7.00 can of epoxy. Anyway, thanks for the help so far. Any other thoughts ????????

RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
I have 2 LHSs here one 22 miles away one 30 the closer one had lost most of my business due to his attitude.
The Further one gets about 99% of my business. I only buy form the closer guy when I must. |
RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
my guess is your 3 in 1 is fried. There are two ESC's in the 3 in 1.....1 for the main rotor and 1 for the tail motor. My guess is you ether fryed it when you switched the plugs or maybe when you hit idle up if your throttle stick was all the way down. Bummer, I recomend installing a couple fuses one 7.5amp for the main motor and a 3amp for the tail to prevent damage to the ESC's in the future.

RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
Rherbert, go throught the manual carefully. i t gives you step by step set up testing and info. If you did fry the 3 -in- 1 which is very possible, you will want to get the fuses on the power lines before you start over. Also find and follow the Radd's links. A heli sim for about 10 hrs or so befdore you try to commit aviation would be a good step. this comes from a guy w/ 14+ yrs of r/c fixed wing experience. KLet us all know how you do. Doc

RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
THANKS GUYS !!!! LHS is closed today, just got back. I think the 3-1 is fried[:@]. The only way this could have happened is when I hit the IDLE UP switch while it was on the ground.......but it was only for a few seconds. I'm going to order a new 3-1, plastic blades, and some other junk for it. With the problem I'm having.........Is there ANY way it could be the RX ??????? I hope not.......and I also hope that these 3-1's are'nt that easy to fry. If they are, I might as well pick up a dozen of them.

RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
I recommend not getting the plastic blades, as they are very good at tail boom strikes destroying the boom. I would suggest extra wood blades.

RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
rhebert100,
comeaux se va, lol (sp.) DeRidder Your LHS sounds like where I bought mine. I had to Politely Pressure mine to exchange my Tx. after three months. see link: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_48...tm.htm#4811405 I suggest you try some friendly persuasion on them, and if that doesn't work, get in touch with Horizon asap. Horizon is really good about handling problems. You don't want to be eating the cost of a 3n1 on a new heli. I agree with the post above, starting off in idle up should NOT have harmed your 3n1. Good luck, orlbuzz BTW, I TOTALLY agrree about the plastic blades, boom destroyers. I just got some wood ones from HeliDirect for $7 and change, and $8 for the other, both fly fine. The $8 look just like e-flite blades. |
RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
Well Damn HeliTB......I wish you would have caught me about 20 miutines ago. I just ordered a set of Plasti-Blades. I still have 2 sets of wooden blades, and also a set of carbon blades. I also just ordered a new 3-1 (I really think it's my problem) a new boom, super skid set, and few other stuff that I think I'll probably brake before I learn how to fly this thing. All this....about $600.00 bucks into this CP PRO......and I have'nt even gotten it off of the ground yet.

You will then have a spare. |
RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
Comeaux se va ORLBUZZ [8D]!!!!!! I really didn't know what I was doing at first.[&:] I think I smoked the 3-1. I did smell it.......I'm not sure if it smells burnt, or just that new smell. The main rotor output on the 3-1 is the only one that does'nt work. I just ordered a butt load of replacement parts just in case. I will call the LHS tomorrow, but I really don't want to deal with these people. I can get pretty upset when I think I'm being taken advantage of.......and they are not worth that. Thank you for your input. I'm thinking of getting a simulater too. Have you ever used one ???

RE: HELP !!!!!!! CP PRO problems
Oh yeah,
I got RealFlight G2 about 6 years ago, and had gotten pretty good with helis. I hadn't used it in about two years, tho. Of course, I didn't worry about crashing then. NOW, I take it very seriously when I fly on the simulator, I can see those $$$$. A simulator will certainly help you learn the sticks and orientation. I bought a Pro to start with too. I detuned it with extra flybar weights, flatbottom blades, a heavier lipo, to learn with. I had never flown a heli, and didn't make any progress untill I followed Radd's School of Rotary Flight. You follow that, and you will learn. It seems silly, but after you go through it, you will see what it did for you. orlbuzz |
