Don't want to be a dark cloud on your sunny day guys, but Horizon changed their estimated ship date from "late November" to now read "early December". They did this at the beginning of this week.
To me that means we'll be lucky to actually see someone with a new BCX2 before Xmas!! I pre-ordered from Horizon way back on 10/16/06. Good thing about their policy is that they do not charge your credit card until they actually ship the product to you!

Best projection at the moment..... arriving in shops at the very beginning of December.... A few could appear in the very end of November, but most will still be 'in transit'.

I just placed my pre-order on a CX-2 :-)

After all the reading and contemplation of CP Pro or CX-2, I decided the CX-2 was the simplest and most cost effective way to go.

Thanks to everyone here in this thread and others that helped me decide by offering plenty of info.

wise decision! my CP is so hard to fly, when i flew my buddies CX i knew i had to have one. plus cx2s radio is so sweet.the reg cxs radio is cheap feeling. theres a link around here somewhere for learning to fly a heli like the CP, ive read it somewhat and am going to print it out right now. seems very interesting. but anyways the CX is instant gratification

heres the link, this thing should be stickied somewhere http://www.dream-models.com/eco/pre-Flight.html

Thanks for the link. I've been reading ]RADD's[/color] and found it very helpfull.

I also went and purchased a few aluminum up grades. Not sure if it was a good idea to get all of them. I bought an aluminum swash plate, aluminum lower rotor head set and an inner shaft with aluminum head/hub. I think the aluminum head will not allow the flybar to pop off when it crashes. This means the flybar will be breaking alot :-/

I shoulda prolly stuck with the stock inner shaft and head. The other two upgrades I like though. Together they all look real sweet though :-)

edit: I forgot to plug the good people at www.myrcsupply.com
They got pretty decent prices and are good folks to deal with in general [sm=thumbup.gif]

You may want to wait for upgrades until the CX2 really gets here, I compared all the part numbers and see the inner shaft part number has changed:

Old CX Listing
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rts%20Listing:
Inner Shaft with Hub & Main Gear Set: BCX
$8.99 [EFLH1212]

New CX2 Listing:
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...arts%20Listing
Inner Shaft w/Head/Hub: BCX/2
$6.99 [EFLH1242]
Inner Shaft Main Gear: BCX/2
$2.99 [EFLH1243]

Funny though, they both have been tagged with the "BCX/2" saying they are supposably both compatible?
Note the CX2 shows separate part numbers for the shaft and gear, while the CX was one part number?

PS: I second the motion for the good guys at www.myrcsupply.com

Well I called my LHS and myrcsupply.net to try and get the scoop on when the CX2 will ship. Between the two here is what I was able to figure out. They should be coming off the ship by the end of this week and E-Flite will start shipping them to the dealers. The dealers should start receiving them by Monday the 27th, or so, depending where they are located. It sounds like they will just get a few in per day as there is such a demand for them. That said, it sounded like they will receive some each day, so our orders should get filled soon.
Sounds like a reason to be thankful in this Thanksgiving Season, LOL

I started buying from these guys as I heard about their outstanding customer service from the nitro car and truck guys. Also, here is a post in response to one of the guys ordering his Blade CX2:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=128

The people at myrcsupply are great. I dont think iv ever had customer service like that before, even with my LHS. I called to verify some things about my order, and i got right in touch with a live person instantly, he answerd all my questions, and informed me that the date just changed to the 30th, without me having to ask. Its nice to feel like your not being "BSed". its rare these days to find a website that offers good pricing and good customer service... these guys are 5star! IMO.

I am really chomping at the bit for my CX2, pre-ordered 2 weeks ago!@!@#

To keep me from going insane, I have been practicing on the FSOne RC flight sim.

The CX sim is so easy I got bored of it - it really is so docile - which is exactly what I want from the real thing!

Practicing with the CP sim is the opposite - ultra challenging... grrr... keep crashing, stable hover difficulty... much more practice required before I go get the real thing. But I am soooo ready for that CX2....

ack... waiting... is... killing... me.... gasp....

robmoney 11-25-2006 11:11 AM

RE: pre-ordered a CX2 !:)

I started with a cp pro, no sim.

After 8 batteries I was hovering well and when I use the sim in the LHS, it is harder to me that the real deal.

Going to symm. blades will get you the ability to really fly and heli.....

Just my experience.

RADD'S flight training is incredibly good! I used it the whole way through! www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html

RE: pre-ordered a CX2 !:)

Ok, just got done with first battery charge, spent on successful hovering with my new Blade CX2!!

First impressions:

Hmm, my BCX2 canopy was cracked right by the lower right support grommet.

Everything else came out of the well designed box just fine. I think I'll inquire about a replacement canopy. I'm wondering if the yellow canopy from the BCX would look ok with the red fuselage of the BCX2. Hmm? :)

Read the instructions, checked out the CD, charged the battery. While charging, fixed the canopy with a little thick goey superglue, seems ok. Attached the training gear!

Went through all the startup tests - all pass. Excellent!

Went outside to try first flight - hmm, too much wind...

Oh, well - went for the bedroom, and set up on the bed. Went through the startup tests - all pass. Muhuhahah!!! [>:]

Then I powered up and hovered very nicely just over the queen sized bed!! Tracking looks very close if not as good as can be. WOW! I could actually keep it over the bed with little effort!! My wife was freaked and I hooted!

She runs pretty smooth, but I think could be smoother with the aluminum hop-ups on the way. Its like she needs to be broken in, even so she made a pleasant humm as she buzzed around over the confines of the bed. She needed almost maximum left rudder trim, oddly. Also very slight forward and left trim made her really easy to stabilize in hover. I was very light on the sticks after trimming.

Great job on a great toy, E-Flite!! I'm sure I'll get my $ worth of fun outta this!

PS: The canopy was tricky to mess with. To help this, I used light sandpaper to round off the canopy support bars so they could slip onto the grommets more easily.

Also, the flight battery was tricky to install, and kept binding somehow. I'll work on a fix for this later.

And finally, it appears the 4-in-1 unit needs a rubberband to help secure it. No problemo.

I picked up a CX2 just now (battery charging) and the 4 in 1 was dangling inside the canopy too! Just repositioned it and gave it a squeeze. Seems to be stuck pretty good now!

The carbon rods holding canopy were cut flat as well. Hard to push grommets on easily.

Chucked them in a drill with some sand paper and rounded them off...

I will report back upon 1 st flight!

Lookin forward to it! :D

I spent the second charge the same way - hovering over the confines of a queen sized bed - with no problems!

Except, maybe, that I need maximum left rudder trim, and I still have to push a left stick a little left to stay stable.

Oh, I now remember the book mentioning this; I'll report on how the fix goes.

I could easily and fairly precisely guide the CX2 to different locations all within the small space I was using. Amazing.

I am looking forward to flying in a larger area! [:-] duh!

Well, first flight in garage was as advertised.

I learned on my CP PRO. So, this thing is like a hot air balloon in comparison. Floats like a butterfly and is completely controlable, quick figure 8's in a two car right off the bat!

VERY stable, only tuning I need to do is a little less proportional for a dead still tail, had to trim left rudder a few clicks, but other than that it is rock solid stable.

Need tips on getting more response, it's too sluggish and stable if you will.

I bet removing the flybar weights will do it...

Yep! Fine tuned the Proportional Mix pot - now the trim needs to be a bit to the right - good enough!

I spent the 3rd charge again hovering over the queen sized bed, just to make sure the trims were in order.
