CPP Tail Motor Problem

I have a stock CPP with a G90. It worked great for a month until a hit the tail rotor hard enough to tear up the motor. I replaced the motor and it lasted 5 battery packs..it then just got weak and couldn't provide enounh clockwise force on the model to keep a heading any more. I replaced the motor again, and the new one lasted 2 packs before I had the same problem. I had a similar problem on my CP and the replacement tail motor has been working fine for weeks now. Is it possible that I got 2 defective motors ?? The Gyro seems to working fine..I'm just disconnecting the main motor, applying power and twisting the models to test for proper response. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

RE: CPP Tail Motor Problem

If you're running the single tail motor, that may be your problem, especially if you are not breaking your motors in. To upgrade to the g90, it's really a good idea to go with belt drive, brushless, direct drive, or dual tail motors with the last 2 being the most common.

Other thoughts might be to check your bearings and the gear mesh and see if they are too tight or need lubed. You might also check your mixer pot. You could also try flying it without the g90 for a bit to see if that has anything to do with it.

I hope this helps out =)

RE: CPP Tail Motor Problem

Thanks for the suggestions...I'm sure you've hit on the problem...I'll try eliminating the G90 on the next motor...my gear mesh and bearings seem to be fine...I never gave a thought to changing the tail set up based solely on using the G90. Does that cause the speed controller output on the 3 in 1 to increase? Thanks again...

RE: CPP Tail Motor Problem

oh btw... I forgot to mention in that PM that you will need to add the fuse mod if you upgrade the tail motor =) Otherwise you will risk burning out your 3 in 1.
