CPP servo
I noticed something today while replacing a blade grip after a small crash. The servo behind the main motor will ,while slowly spinning up,The arm on the servo will move down a little bit befor any of the other servos move.Could this be the reason way while in a hover I am constantly fighting to keep the heli from moving forward?Does it need to be replaced?
Also I had ordered some retaining pins and they seem to be of a smaller OD.What do you all do to keep the pin from sliding out? Thanks All |
RE: CPP servo
The servo infront of the main motor will do that. Sometimes they are just aligning themselves to center where the Tx tells them they should be. Something could also be up with the servo if it's moving out of sync with the other ones. I dunno about as far as replacing it... maybe, maybe not. Try plugging a different servo in the same spot and see if it does it. If it does not, then likely it needs to be replaced.
The paper clip mod by choppers rule =) That's what you want to use instead of that sheer pin (I'm guessing that is what you are talking about... the one that goes into the head?) |

Rsking45,
Here's a couple pictures of the Paper Clip Mod that Mrasmm, was speaking about... Use the big paper clip, if it's a tad loose, that's okay, if it won't fit in the hole of the rotor hub, just use a dremel tool or a small file to get it to the right size. The pins you ordered are probably the right size,, after time, the hole in the main shaft and the rotor hub become enlarge, just a tad, from spining up.. There's a lot of torque from that small motor.. And the parts well just wear, this is normal.. Servo: Hmm, all the servos should have reached there center point, during the arming process of the TX and RX.. If the servo acts, as you explained, Everytime you spool up. I'd suggest that you replace the servo. They aren't that much. RE: CPP servo
I was thinking that the servos should move insync, after armed, but the only one that moves is the front one, befor the other two move
|
RE: CPP servo
then yeah... that can cause that. Change two of the servos and swap their places in the Rx. See if it is still the servo hooked to the front channel that moves, or if it the actual servo in the front moves first. That will help you isolate the cause.

RE: CPP servo
well I ordered a servo and see what happens. The other thing that I didnt mention is while spooling up at about 1/4 throttle the heli starts to shake alot, even when in a hover.,the more throttle the worst it shakes I have replaced the main gear the bearings that the shaft of the main gear rides on.Balanced the blades, tracked the blades ,checked the feather bar it see if its bent.I looked everything over real good but cant find what is making it shake so bad.[:@] any Ideas
Thanks all |
RE: CPP servo
A few ideas :
Looking from the top down above the hub, make sure that the hub is true when turning at slow speed, the small phillips screw should not wobble around the main shaft axis, Make sure that the blade grips are not too tight on the blades, the blades should be easy to move in the grips, Make sure that the spindle is not moving too freely in the hub : the o-rings and the shims should allow some movement but not much, Make sure that the bell mixer arm screws are tightened just enough so that the flybar can flap freely, Try balancing the rotor assembly without the blades, then try balancing the flybar, then the whole thing with blades. Good luck, Georges |
RE: CPP servo
I got it flying again.I took the head apart on looked everything over again and the feathering bar was bent so I straighten it out the best I could and that did it.I also replaced the servo and it mode a world of difference. Now the servos all move ensync.Hovers much easier now.
