motionless hover cpp
 
Hey all,
Does anyone have a ccp that will hover almost motionless?
With mine at shoulder height I an fighting it from moving in all directions.I think its me.but would like to know if they can hover with out moving much.

If everything is set up right and there is no wind, yes it will hover motionless for a short time. Eventually it will start to drift in one direction or another.

If yours is set up right (heli is balanced with battery, level swash, blades tracking the same, blades balanced, flybar paddles straight, gain and proportional dialed in, and trim adjustments made) and nothing is bent (spindle, main shaft, or flybar) and your fighting it in all diections it might be that you are over correcting it. A good indicator that something is out of whack is vibration. To hold a hover it just takes very small amounts of stick movement. If you input too much stick movement you have to correct again, but if you over correct you will start "fighting it."

With new blades and no viberations I get about 4 seconds of hands free hover. Then its just a slight correction.

I find with mine I have to set the swash up to pull slightly to the left so I can give right stick input to keep it sit.
When i level swash perfect it tends to wander alot.
Maybe this is a stock radio problem?

I'm looking forward to trying out my new dx7 on the cpp.

in zero wind i can get a pretty solid hover going, if that's what you're asking. if you're asking about hands off hover, probably 4sec before the heli moves (so ~3sec before correction is required to stay solid). my solid hovers average of 20% of my overall hovering hours, whether it's my laziness, the wind, or whatever. my 5-10mph mph wind hovers usually are within 6-12". wandering is much less stressful, but solid feels like a zen thing when it happens with a micro (haven't flown larger helis yet, but i'm sure they're a lot easier to hover).

i find that not focusing too hard on a particular part of the heli helps me stay solid. if i accidentally gaze at the shaft, i loose reference with the ground, and i start to wander. it takes more of a conscious effort on my part to get in to the "solid hover" groove, but when i do fall in the groove, i usually find myself gazing somewhere between the ground and the heli, looking through the rotor disc. kind of feels like the difference between driving while staring at the lines in the road, versus driving looking ahead at the "big picture". high/distant hovers are still a problem for me. ;)

What do you all think of getting the DX6 for the CPP? I was told that this would help to control it better.I know that I still need time with it

i would get a dx6 not for just a cpp, but for your hobby in general. imo a nice radio should be a first investment in rc. in fact, a dx7 might be a wiser choice if you ever plan on getting something bigger than say a trex. the dx7 will fly anything, dx6 is limited to parkflyers.

whatever programmable you get, i'm sure you'll enjoy it.
