cpp bl main throttle setting
hello, i finished off some flights recently, and feel i've finally discovered what was needed for extreme collective/cyclic power... more throttle, lol! i was trying to be conservative with my throttle since i have no tach and was already experiencing more power than stock at 75-80% throttle (governor mode, phx10, himax 2015-4100kV, 8T, tp3s730). after researching i found that i'd be more efficient & still safe at or above 80%, so i started creeping up my throttle in 2.5% increments (using all 4 flight modes on my 9C for in-flight changes, ie norm/idl1/idl2/idl3 = 80,82.5,85,87.5).
after going from 80 to 82.5 my collective punches went from, "wow that was fast!", to "holy ****, can you do that again!" fast. the thing jumps 20' in well under a second (i'd guess close to 0.5sec for goodness sake). now my beloved GWS DD tail has no chance against a full collective punchout, so collective management is my next trick to learn. i flew in fairly strong wind too, and she seemed much more tolerant. folks, i think i'm finally in the power band of my himax! i haven't even seen a need to try 85%+, but i'll have to give it a go next time just for the experience. :D for the purposes of discussion on the topic of brushless throttle settings: what throttle are you brushless guys using? gov mode or curve? kV? pinion? kev [edit: my post flight motor case temps were main/tail = 150F/100F at 85F ambient, after 8min of continuous mixed FFF/hover.] |
