red light error

why does the green light turn red when i raise the throttle stick?

Hi and welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of useful info here.

The red light basically means that the main motor speed control has reached its nominal output, and it occurs near the top of the range of the throttle stick. It's perfectly normal.

Regards
Georges

i cannot get the heli to turn, and have not had this problem before.

we'll need a bit more info before we can help diagnose your problem. have you crashed? have you replaced any parts? have you disconnected any motors? what happened just prior to you noticing this issue for the first time?

RE: red light error

Yes i crashed, and yes i have put blades and rudders on a few times.

IF you are saying that the blades won't turn, DON"T FORCE THE ISSUE. YOU WILL BURN UP THE $50 4 in1. If the blades are binding, find the cause first or you'll be really unhappy. Check the motor pinion gears. Make sure the upper pinion ONLY contacts the upper drive gear and the Lower motor pinion gear ONLY contacts the LOWER drive gear.

both gears are turning fine manually. it is when i throttle up the red light comes on about at half throttle and nothing happens.

as i turn the heli upside down and take the battery out, i can see both gears turn the small gears when i turn both blades individually.

as i look further on the 4in1 i see a black maybe burn spot above the area of the proportional mix pot inside the box.

basically wht it boils down to is one of 3 things then, your 4 in 1 is blown, and you need a new 7313 mosfet if you can repair it, or you're out 50 bucks for a new one, the next thing it could be is both of the motors are shot. If this is the case likely the 4 in1 is also shot, lastly and least likely is that your motors are somehow unplugged.

If you are saying that the rotors don't spin at all and only the red light comes on, it sounds like either the motors or 4-in-1 are toast. I'm inclined to think it's the 4-in-1, especically if you see a burned spot.

One thing you must remember if you crash is to throttle down immediately. If the blades can't move, the 4-in-1 will continue to increase power to the motors trying to make them turn until something smokes. Some guys have added a fuse in the battery lead to minimize this issue.

If you bought the CX2 at your local hobby shop, bring it in and ask them to take a look. If some parts are history, you'll have to replace them, but at least you'll know what the problem is.

Hope you get it all sorted out.

Don

probably a silly question, but are you waiting for the 4 in 1 to fully arm before you try to throttle up? i know mine takes a couple of seconds and if i don't wait for the green light to stop blinking and turn steady before i throttle up, the light turns red and nothing happens. then i have to throttle back down and wait for the solid green.

Nitrobobby, that is anything but a stupid question. I was thinking the same. It's hard to help somebody when we don't know what actually happened to the heli.
The possibilities are to much for me. I'm a pilot, not a mechanic. Wish I could help though. My advice is, don't stomp on it yet, do trouble shooting 1st.
