Trainer Port?
I noticed on the rear of the controller that comes with the CX-2 there is a 'port' on the back of the TX marked 'Trainer,' does anyone know what thats for? I've been working with this bird for over a week now and this is the first I noticed it.
Progress report!! Well, I think I'm finally getting the hang of this bird, thanks to you guys!:D I haven't broken a blade in 2 days!! For me, that IS progress!! Granted, with a 7 year old and a wife who thinks I'm entering my second childhood by playing with 'toy' helicopters, I haven't 'played' with it as much as I wanted too, but I'm getting there. A few times I wanted to fly that bird WITHOUT the aid of a TX but, as was suggested, 'if you're having a bad day.....LEAVE THE BIRD ALONE!!!' Man, no truer words were ever spoken!!;) Thanks for the words of wisdom Soloboss!!! And thank all of you that have helped me learn about this hobby. For being new to these helis, you'd think I'd be posting more questions, and normally I would. But it seems that everytime I do have a question I do a search and find out that my question was already asked and answered.....numerous times!!! Personally, I just don't like to post a question over and over again when it's already been answered over and over again!! Oh yeah, speaking of questions, I do have another one, which actually has to more with personal preferences than anything. What make of tail boom would you guys suggest, other that the stock boom? I've read that those carbon booms make the CX-2 easier and more fun to fly, is there any truth to that, or are they mainly for looks? THANKS!!!! |

if it's like other tx, it's for buddyboxing or to hook up to a sim. i have a heli-max ez, and i put a carbon tail boom on it, it did give me more flight time.(less weight) . i didn't notice it as any easyer, cause there already easy. i stepped up to a rotofly, and thats when i learned how hard they are. heres a pic of the 2.

RE: Trainer Port?
The port accepts a $10.00 cable from Radio Shack that plugs into an
audio port on your computer...then you can run the free FMS flight simulator program and practice flying..you'll also need a program call Smart PropoPlus....highly recommended.....here are some links to get you started...John H. http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html http://www.smartpropoplus.com/BlueAndGrey/default.asp |
RE: Trainer Port?
Thanks for such prompt replies!! So that's what that port is for! For me, that is a great idea and I'm going to see if I can't get myself a cable today. Also, thanks for the links I'm going to download that program and then do the flight sim. That ought to save some wear and tear on that poor old bird of mine until I get better!!:D
As for the tail boom, well one things for sure, it looks ALOT better than the red one that came with the CX-2!! But, if it increases flight, even by alittle bit, I think it's worth it. The only source around here for that kind of thing is HobbyTown USA and they don't sell any thing like the booms...just replacement parts like blades, etc. So where is a good place to get them? Again, thank you both for your input, believe me, it was very much appreicated!! I'll be back in alittle while....I need to run to radio shack!!! |
