Xtreme 180 with E flite battery
I have been flying my cx2 with Xtrme motors and Mega power batteries, and the motor temps and battery temps have been extremely low after a long flight. Yesterday I deceided to use my 2 e filte stock batteries to see the difference between the batteries, and well there is very much a difference. The helli's climb rate is slower and you need more trim for yaw, and after a full flight the motors are hot and the batteries are very warm. So I let everything cool and then grabbed a mega power battery and started to fly and on lift offalmost hit the ceiling it went up so fast, and after that flight the motors were still cool and so was the battery. Funny how burst rates and amperage can make such a differnce. The motors seem to be more efficent and run cooler with the higher mah and higher current flow of the mega powers, probly designed for batteries like that. }:o)

Yea, I hear You.
I haven't run the stock for a long time; they are adequate (at best) for a stock setup heli, but performance deteriates fast with added weight or more powerful motors that You are describing. I think the E-Flite batteries are of good quality and have longevity, but if they are going to offer upgrades, a battery should be among them. I think they messed up there. My heli is at 241 Grams compared to a stock set up at 227 Grams, so the 15c batteries perform pretty good, but I fly almost exclusively the 22c's from SMC now, and my heli feels lighter than stock with those and can get the full 9 1/2 minutes with them. The 180's seem to love them, don't get very warm at all. |

RE: Xtreme 180 with E flite battery
Goldslinger,
Did I mess up getting the Xtreme 15 - 20c batteries? I just got the Xtreme motors and batteries from Mr B and I'll be going to the Xtreme grips and blades soon. I hope that extra 2c doesn't make the difference between good and not so good. Time to start charging and discharging. Gotta break stuff in at least a little bit. Such a bother. |

Solo, ANYTHING is better than the stock for power; I think You did alright, My Friend. I just went for the premium brand with the highest 'c' rating I could find; not the highest maH, but the 'C' is where You have the reserve power for when You need it on the stick, IMO. I get good times as a bonus. Gary |
