Blade CX2 spining left -
 

Hello, my blade cx2 started to spin left during throttle up. I can see that the top blade is not getting near enoungh spin. Long before takeoff is possible, the blade tips over. This has happend suddenly and did not result from a crash.

I was flying for about 2 minutes, landed and then the problem began. Does this now when its hot or cold.

I tried the pots but that did not help. Just seems like the top blade is not getting enough spin.

I did install the alum bottom head and the blade came with the alum top head. I put alum on bottom about a week ago and flew flawlessly for about 5 battery charges...then today the spin and low power issue came around.

Any hints?

Well...I took out the inner shaft...blew on it...put it back...tightened gear...and I'm now ok and flying.

Input is welcome!

I think that you might of had your upper main assembly hub on too tight or your gearmesh was off. Anyways glad you got flying.

Thanks for the reply and the link.

I thought I fixed the problem but it started to crop up again today. after about 3 mins of flying the heli spins and comes down. I again took out upper shaft and reinstalle. Problem fixed for a few mins then slow upper prop and spin down.

I now see that I have a chipped "tooth" on the gear that spins the lower prop/shaft. Do you think that may be my answer to my problem

I do think that is your problem.
If the lower rotor is not up to speed then the heli will spin counter clockwise (to the left).
You will need to replace the outer shaft/lower gear assembly as they are one peice.

Thanks...it seems strange though... I could swear it is my upper blade that is spinning slow...
I'll head to the hobby shop tomorrow and replace the outer shaft/gear...I'll keep you posted.

Something to keep in mind:
The CX2 will always spin, yaw, in the opposite direction of weaker/slower rotor.
The upper rotor spins CCW and the lower CW.
So, if the heli is yawing to the left, CCW, then the lower rotor is the source of the problem.

Thanks..then it must be the gear on the outer shaft with the chipped tooth.
What seems stange is that the problem "comes and goes". I think I can pick up the part tomorrow. I'll keep you posted ...thanks.

Make sure your head screws are in the shaft holes and the lower gear is positioned with the set screw on the flat part of the shaft and is aslo tight. I'll bet the lower gear set screw is coming loose or you are not lining it up with the flat spots on the shaft, so when you fly the gear slips and the up rotor dosn't spin as fast as it should and the lower blade torques the heli around to the left.[8D]

Hey blk...

I was wondering if I hit those flat spots...

after putting the shaft through the gear, I really can't tell if my screws are hitting the flat spots...any secrets you want to share on how to hit the spots?

line it up as close as you can the tighten the screw just a bit and turn the gear on the shaft it will get loose when it gets to the flat ,then tighten it up all the way.

Thanks..ok...I found the flat spot...still having trouble....anther thing i discovered. When I throttle up ..heli spins right ...with a weak upper prop spin...the green light on the 3 and 1 turns red until I throttle down....mean anything?

Ok again....I decided to check the upper screws that hold the head to the shaft. I found that it was slightly loose. I then realligned it with "that" flat spot and now I can fly...I'll let you know if it flips out again.

ok...flew out one battery..all is ok for now...

...but...now that I do know there is one "tooth" on the outer shaft gear is chipped (it also has some slight friction)...should I take this sucker apart and switch it out or leave it?

I would at least have the replacement outer shaft on hand in case you lose another tooth or the problem reappears.
Also, another thing to note is that if you tighten the two upper screws of the lower head too tightly they will rub on the inner shaft causing binding on either or both of the shafts.
