Blade 400 servos HELP HELP HELP
 

hey ppl i need help with my 400, i got it about 2 weeks ago as a first heli, low and behold i stacked it into the dirt,wrecking 2 servos.
the point being i cant get hold of the stock servos anywhere , so what i need to know is what should i buy and do i need to replace all of the servos with the new batch.
im such a newbie but have been bitten badly ive since bought a cx-2, which im liking. please help someone must know :(

I'm pretty sure Horizon Hobby has them in stock now.
That means they will be distibuted to other retailers very soon.
Probably on the way to a store near you.:D

magic it might take a bit longer for me as im in england, also my lhs isnt the most productive in the world, while we are on the subject would you say yo carry on with the stock ones or upgrade??

Hard to say what to do.
For me, as a beginner to CP's, the stock servos are good enough.
I have a couple of gear sets for when I strip the servo gears.
And now that the servos are available for only $13, that will work for me.
The Spektrum DSP75 is a very close replacement to stock but a little more expensive.

Many have, and you could, go with something like the Hi-Tech HS-65MG for cyclic.
They have metal gears and won't strip as easily.
There are all kinds of better servos for the tail as well.
Again, it's a personal choice.

If you do change the cyclic servos you should change all three to the same, otherwise you will have control problems
due to the different speeds and performance.

I just crashed my B400 today for the first time. It stripped the gears in two servos and bent the main shaft. The main shaft was easy to straighten, but these servos stink. Horizon has them on back order into February. I am going to try to find some better ones. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

When they break, I think changing them out to some metal gear servos would be better. You think the JR S241MG Micro Metal Gear Servo would be good replacement it should fit according to the size but dont know the torque requirement or cant see any specs on the DS75?

i cant beleive how quickly you guys have responded to my problem, i have found one site www.simplyt-rex.com they are showing spektrum dsp75 just dont no what to go for, if id have known that getting parts for the blade would be like this id have....... id have still got it anyway lol

Penstar82 I flew my B400 for the 1st time monday. I knew after the first flight that the B400 was going to be a good heli. I can say with all honesty that it is the best "RTF" of any kind that I have ever purchasedthat lived up to the PRE-HYPE. In fact, I liked it so much I installed all JR ds 285 servos on the cyclic, and a Futaba ds 3400G on the Gyro. I promise you that with with this upgrade it will make a good Heli, into a great heli. OK I'm aware that all of the Trex guy's are going to jump in defending their Trex 450's, But I'm saying it anyway, "THE Blade 400, flys just as good (maybe better) than a Trex 450. I feel like I'm qualified to make that statement because..... I have 3, Align Trex 450's, and all of them are upgraded SE's, all of them flying. Don't waste
your money on replacing the cheap servos that came with the Blade 400. Go ahead and upgrade to better servo's on cyclic, and Gyro. It's worth the money, and you'll really feel the difference. Bob Laine

thanks for the advise bob but just to prove how much of a noob i am could u explain which servos are cyclic and which are gyro im sorry for bein a dick but i havnt a clue

cyclic is the three that attach to the swashplate and the gyro one is on the boom.

penstar82 Cylic are the servo's that move the elevator, and ailerons, throttle. Gyro is the servo mounted on the boom, just behind the frame.

Don't the DS285's also have nylon gears that strip fairly easily?

Yea they do have nylon gears but I haven't stipped them yet.

Wolfpackin The truth is, if you hit the ground that hard...............stripped gears will be the least of ones problem. For an Blade 400, I don't think you can buy a better servo. But of course, that's just my opinion. Bob Laine

They aren't on a B400. They are on my Belt CP.

Do the JR DS285"s fit on the Blade 400 without modifications?
If you had to do any refitting or grinding, pictures would be helpful.

evdreamer, I sanded around the mounts very lighty. Only took about 1 minute per servo. I'm not sure if it was absolutely nescessary but I don't like my componnents rubbing. Bob Laine
