I think im going to upgrade to a 401 gryo. Probably a JR 3400 DS as well. I don't have enough money to do the other servos right now. What will I need to do? Is the 3400 just a simple drop in.

Anything I will have to do to program it? What about channel reversing, etc...

You will have to flip the DIP switch to the digital side on the 401. I don't know how fast that servo is, but I would recommend to turn the delay all the way down. If I remember right pretty much all servos move the opposite way that the E-flite's do, so you will need to reverse the rudder channel on the transmitter and gyro. Once you got the tail pitch slider centered and the servo horn at 90 degrees, move the slider to its limits and lower or raise the travel adjustment on the gyro so you get full travel.

evdreamer....my name is dave and I'm sorry if this is intrusive but I feel u may be able to help me with a few questions.......if too busy then I understand but here goes:
1st....After installing a GY401 on my Blade 400 with the stock servos and nothing changed within the Tx, all went fine. Worth noting is I could not afford a digital rudder servo with the purchase of my Gy401, so after asking a guy at my LHS he recommended the Futaba S3114 b/c its speed at .10 at 4v meets the gyro criteria........anyhow the Gyro worked perfect. My Tx went bad out of nowhere b/c nothing was happening at the Aileron servo upon left and right input. Before figuring out it was the Tx definitely, I thought it was a bad servo and used it as an excuse to change all 3 of my stock servos to the HS 65HG's.

Now that I changed the servos and this did not fix the Aileron problem, I had the LHS help me determine the Tx went wacky for no reason at all............So Now that I have my new DX6i + my new HS 65's working perfectly............Now I have a BLINKING GY401

2nd question.......and ideas on why? Any Tx setting recommendations for a newbie such as myself?
Finally...3rd question....should I adjust anything on the Gyro itself......currently its set in Non Digital mode......Limit=100..... and Delay= 0 (I think...unless its at 75?? b/c its shaped as a flathead screw top)

What kind of flash is it: Rapid, slow, double, or single flash? The main one I run into is the slow. What is the gain on the transmitter? I find that most of the time it won't arm right in standard rate. The transmitter has to be in HH mode before you plug the battery in. I need a gain of 73 on the DX7 to put it into HH mode. Then if you want to go to standard rate you can do it after you plug the battery in. The other one I run into is the rapid flash. To fix that I go from HH mode to standard rate 3 times in 3 seconds.

sounds to me like the HH switch isn't on or set properly

Have you looked at the videos on helifreak? They tell you how to setup this gyro in pretty good detail.

hitec has a beatiful hi end micro HHgyro and servo combo ... almost as lite as the stock set up. and way lighter then the 401 combo
