I can't see any other posts about this little baby anywhere else on RCU so hopefully i'm not double posting. ModelFlight Australia posted this news article this morning and so far as I can see there is no word of it on either the Horizon or E-flite websites. I have to say, this thing looks brilliant!! It's due in Australian stores in September, earlier for the US.

"I say a “sneak look” because it was only unveiled to a handful of Model Flight’s staffers soon after it was tumbled out of the package. The static shot (which is one of the better ways to photograph this tiny Helicopter) shows a rather attractive lemon shaded body and fin beneath a flat black set of contra-rotating blades and paddles. When you read “CX” on the box, you could be forgiven for thinking of the ever-popular Blade CX2 and whilst it is a small version of the Blade, there are still some similarities. Firstly, they are both out of the Chinese Republic, they both carry the letters, CX, and they both have contra-rotating blades.

Then, when we disrobe the model, we start thinking along the lines of the Vapor – the model that took the ETSA PARK Indoor Stadium into its hands and moulded it to a shape to suit itself. If you are already a Vapor flyer, you know only full well that here is another opportunity for you to save money as this, also, is a BNF model. Of course you can lash out for a model that comes complete with Spectrum Radio – but – why pay the extra and have, yet another transmitter cluttering up your hobby room, when you can bind it to any Spectrum radio on 2.4 GHz and Bob’s your uncle, and I’m sure he would be pleased to hear of your frugality. It also comes with some optional extras, such as, special blades that become illuminated and also have a lighting effect on the body and fin. Wow! Sounds prettier than Justin Galbraith’s Ikarus Shock Flyer.

But – back to the Micro CX – it is compatible with a variety of Spektrum DSM2 radios and it offers helicopter pilots a one-of-a-kind indoor experience. Yet again, with its wide use of carbon fibre composition, represents the ultimate in lightweight design with this little craft lifting the scales to around 25 grams. With its own charger, its single cell Lipo battery recharges in approximately 20 minutes and you are ready to go again for ten or twelve minutes. Two fully proportional lightweight servo motors add to the excellent handling qualities of this delightful little aircraft. Even the man in red was able to hold one in his hand – a hand that has not done an enormous amount of hard labour over its life span and so has retained its normal size, but even so, it seemed enormous against this fantastic flying machine.

OHhhh, that's just too cool. I'm sure I "Need" one of those little guys. I had better start working on the justification so I can get it on my Christmas list without the usual "You don't need another . . .".

FYI, USA is also targeting latter part of September!
(Production samples are beating the 28g spec.)

Thanks David,

Do you know if the BNF model will be compatible with the original DX6 transmitter. From what I understand the MCX uses a DSM2 receiver and the DX6 uses DSM1 which is an issue with other Spektrum receivers.

Since it requires a DSM2 transmitter, the DX6 will not work (it is DSM(1))

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder... for me...
A precise feedback control digital servo motor at <1 gram is a beautiful thing, and a wonderful bit of affordable technology!

Very cool. Looks like it would be an awesome heli to get stick time with while travelling. Also, very smart on Horizon's part to release it as a BNF (Bind 'n' Fly) version from the get go. I know that e-Flite has had a history of weak servos in their helis, but in something that small, you really don't need very strong servos. They are also already thinking ahead on replacement parts, including servos (available w/o the 5-in-1 unit for $9.99 ea.). On the flip side, I can hear the Air Hog advocates screaming their "Why this when I can get an Air Hog for less?". Maybe on the flip side though, since they aren't that much more than an Air Hog, maybe the Air Hog fans will make the jump to e-Flite and find out the wonderful world of product support. I've never owned an Air Hog, so this is just my biased opinion, take it with a grain of salt. To each their own. I'll go for the e-Flite over Air Hog any day, plus I can make more use of my DX7 (as if I don't have enough use for it with the 5 helis and 2 airplanes that I already have).

They should have a hit on their hands with this little heli.

That's a really good thing that you can use the existing radio from the Blade CX2 for this bird, I haven't touched mine in months.

Can't wait to get my hands on this, there's so many rubish micro helis out there at the moment so this will be a welcome change:D.

The white canopy looks nice too...

Its a cool heli but in my opinion i don't think that it is worth the $129.99 that Horizon is asking for it.

No, it won't. The Micro CX uses Spektrum DSM2 which is a proprietary architecture to Horizon Hobby. For a list of compatible transmitters, see www.bindnfly.com

There is hope.
I was in the mood for flying today and remembered that on the top of the shelf out of site in my work shop is a parkzone Cessna 210 Centurion plane that came with a DSM2 radio. I have had it for about 4 months and this is the first time I have taken it out of the box. Will this work with the micro CX? They are showing a plane and the helicopter on the same bind-N-fly page, so I am hoping the answer is yes.
