Improoving flight time on the Blade 400
Hi!
I currently own a Blade CP Pro and do mostly sports flying with the ocassional loop. I get about 15 min flying time with the stock setup. I do not have problems with this heli being difficult to fly, but what is bothering me is that it eats tail motors and the crappy FM Radio. I have decided to sell my CP Pro and am considering a CP Pro 2 (if the new tail motor lasts longer) or a Blade 400. My main concern is the 400 headspeed and battery life. I need a low headspeed on the heli to keep it safer in smaller spaces like my backyard. About the battery, I read that the 400 flies for 8 minute instead of 15 for the CP Pro. How much can the flight time be increased in the Blade 400? And how can I lower the headspeed to safer levels for sport flying (No 3D)? Thanks |
RE: Improoving flight time on the Blade 400
To lower head speed you go with a pinion gear with less teeth but you can only go so low before the heli becomes too difficult to control. I have ran that size heli at around 2,200 rpm in the past with good results for just sport flying.
I believe the lower head speed will increase flight time as well, I could get 10 or 11 minute flights where now with my Rex at about 3,000 rpm I am only getting about 7 or 8 minutes. If you are really concerned about flight times get extra batteries and just get more flights in |

get the blade 400 it is a far beter heli i have one and never put it down im lurning on it and only can hover but have 3 baterys and get about 27 minuts of hovering it can be tamed down heeps

RE: Improoving flight time on the Blade 400
I have the blade 400 and have flown tail driven helis like the CP pro. I would say that the 400 is way better. It is more stable due to the size and a lot cheaper to fix. The rotors for a Balde 400 are $12 and the CP pro are $17!! What is that about.
Anyway I get about 7 minutes of flight time. You can put a different pinion on it, but why? The thing is so stable with the higher head speeds. With the stock battery you can go about 6 minutes and with a larger battery you can get 8 with sport flying. If you don't have a TX, the 400 comes with a sweet tx and a decent charger. If you have the money, the 400 is easier and more fun to fly. |

Thanks guys!
@Missileman: What battery and pinion did you used on the 400 to get 11 minutes flight time? |

I get 10 min sport flying time with a 2200mah battery and stock gearing!!
