E-flight Blade Micro mCX - Fly Bar Version?
Do the older or newer E-flight Blade Micro mCX's come with the paddles at the end of the fly bar?
Mine has tubular shaped weights, not paddles... |
RE: E-flight Blade Micro mCX - Fly Bar Version?
Gdavis,
I am not aware of ANY coaxial helicopters that have flybar paddles at the end of the flybar. It's the nature of the beast. Control of movement, comes from the lower set of the blades, via the swashplate, on a coaxial heli. On a collective pitch, the control of movement comes from the the flybar paddles. I know what your trying to say... My MCX also comes with the "tubular type weights" on the flybar... I much prefer these for many reasons rather than the other style that is also on some MCX's which offer the "paddle type weights" for the flybar... I did pick up a set of these paddle types just to try out, but I already know there crap compared to the tubular design... But I love experimenting, so I couldn't resist...LOL...:D I'll be curious to see also on the weight diffs whenever I get to that point. I just got this set today with the paddles, and just opened it up... I also asked the LHS guys which version is newer, but they were clueless of course... ;) I ordered however a few more sets of the tubular design just in case those are being replaced by the paddles design's... I hope not ! Cheers, ~ Jeff Tubular design: http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1226811883 Paddle design: http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1226811543 |
RE: E-flight Blade Micro mCX - Fly Bar Version?
J-M, those paddle weights are actually E-Flight? All things being equal, they had to at the very least absorb the tooling cost for that look. I guess there will always be a market for anomalies (I learned to spell that yesterday) like that but . . . why? Looking at the 'paddle' there's not much aero surface to it. It's sort of pudgy to be a control surface so I'm thinking that it's neutered and will have only aesthetic value.
I just got it, didn't I? There's been a ton of money spent for a unique look and there ya go - a gizmo! It's not bling, but it is certainly a Farkle! Like Dave said, Ya don't use paddles on coaxial helicopters. But there is a side of me that wonders; "What if . . .?" I'm just sayin, ya know? |

Mark,
No, What if...? stuff on this one. It just looks cool. Jeff-Michael, can I have yours.:D As posted earlier, control of the heli on the tiny little MCX, comes totally from the lower blades. The only thing, "Maybe", is that it pushes more air. Depending on angel of attack. Hmmm, think about that for awhile.;) Well, I'm off, I better wax / polish the blades on my MCX or Jeff-Michael will be in a termoil.:D:D:D Dave ORIGINAL: soloboss J-M, those paddle weights are actually E-Flight? RE: E-flight Blade Micro mCX - Fly Bar Version?
The original release version of the mCX was designed to have the paddle shaped flybars. They built up inventory levels to support the replacement parts business at stores. Right before release, they changed the design to the tubular type. It was determined that the tubular style yielded better performance. E-Flight needed to get rid of all the paddle styles, so they were sent to stores. As supply of these paddle style flybars dries up, stores will begin to receive the tubular style. If you want to experiment with them, get them now... soon they will be collectors items!
