Lipo Storage
I want to discharge some lipos that I will not be useing for a while.
My Hyperion EOS will discharge to 3.0 volts per cell and stop. Is this too low a voltage or just go with that. |
RE: Lipo Storage
Carl,
I don't discharge past 3.7V per cell and that is about 80% and you want 50% discharge, so I am guessing it will be some where between 3.7V-4.21V. Nick |
RE: Lipo Storage
I guy on RC Groups said he uses the nimh setting to discharge. So if its a two cell
you set it to discharge to 7.6 a 3 cell 11.4 and a 6 cell 22.8 and that would leave me with 3.8 volds per cell for storage. The charger discharges LIPOS to 3.0 volts per cell and stops but everyone thinks that is too low and I would have to keep an eye on the discharge to stop it manualy before it got to 3.0. In the nimh setup you can adjust the voltage up or down. You would think that the charger would let you adjust for lipo discharge but it does not . There s a slot with 3 pins on the side of the charger for a USB cable mabey somehow you can do this through firmware update, not sure |
RE: Lipo Storage
Hey Carl,
Here is an idea. If you want to store the batteries at the storage voltage why not fly them down. When you put them on the charger the voltage is shown (on my chargers) per cell and the battery as it comes up. At that point (charging it within eye site) you can see it come up to your storage spec.... then just shut it off and have the battery right where you want it??? JPee |

Jpee
Good idea but its 20 deg outside and snowing. Mabey I could try those rubber gloves LOL. I got 12 batterys 4 CX2 4 CPP 4 B400. I had them all used but I just had to try out the new charger and charged them all. Good news the wife bought me one HS-5245-MG for a stocking stuffer so I just need 2 more of them and a S-9257 and GY401. I am getting closer to lift off. I did try to discharge them as a lipo but I think 3.0volt is too low and I got tired of stairing at the charger to shut it off at 3.8 |
